After watching tonight’s finale, I started thinking maybe the orchid was not the only means of traveling through time and space. What if people who have died are the ones who time travel? The people we know that have traveled through time and/or space are Ben, Richard, Tom, Ethan, Christian, Charlie and now Claire (in Kate’s dream). We know a lot of these people have died on the island, with the exception of Ben, Richard and Claire (whose fate is yet to be determined). But, What if Ben and Richard have been dead this whole time without us knowing? And let’s assume that Claire is dead (maybe from the explosion while she was sleeping). Claire being dead would explain why she left Aaron in the middle of the night, and was with Christian in the cabin.
This would explain why Miles was brought to the island in the first place. He has the ability to contact people who have died. Maybe the island is a place where the living and the dead can co-exist.
This also explains why Locke is in the coffin. He gave his life in order to have the ability to travel through time and space in order to save the island from something.
The question is then what about people like Libby, Ana-Lucia, Nikki, Paulo, Alex, etc…. Maybe it’s people who die for the good of the island? Or maybe Jacob picks the ones he want to “work” for him in order to save the island. This probably doesn’t make any sense but any ideas??

actually libby was seen in a dream (with michael in the hospital) and claire was seen in a dream with kate. At the end of this episode Hurley said he was playing chess with Mr. Eko
And maybe thats why they need to bring locke back with them when they return to the island. The physical body must be on the island in order for it to work (which is why Christian can do it because his body is actually on the island).
and the voices on the island are the people that are dead (boone, shannon, nikki, paulo, etc.) Maybe they just need a purpose in order to time travel?
Is Claire dead. I thought she may been but didn’t really show her die. Is there something I missed?
the person says that this theory is assuming claire died from the explosion… or maybe she died after everyone left the island, the same time that locke died??
What about the crew from the black rock or the people from the DI? If this is true we would still be able to see them?
Well, I don’t agree with this, but you are right about a lot of things here… and Rawlesy, we did see Horace in Lock’s Dream…..
YES my bad we really have seen alot of people who are dead on the island but they arent all on the island …like boon was at the airport with locke.and btw does that mean that locke is dead??remember cleair sees him in a dream??

John died in the plane crash. And was resurrected, just like Christian.
Is that why the Island gave Ben a tumor? Was he supposed to die and be resurrected? Thats the true prophecy. But Ben was too scared, or didn’t trust Jacob to bring him back.
