Sorry if this has been said, I didn’t find it in the search.
I thought of this after seeing the Juliet centered episode in season four. Ben has an obsession with Juliet because she reminds him of “her”. Now I’m assuming the “her” was the little girl from Ben’s first flash back. And I remember Ben telling Jack in season 3 the reason Juliet was his liaison was because she had a similar appearance to his ex-wife.
So if we put two and two together we can speculate that the little girl in Ben’s flash back is indeed Sarah Shephard.
I just thought that was an interesting connection
EDIT: I’ve just found out that the girl’s name was Annie, it could be she changed her name (though unlikely) or perhaps Ben had some other encounter with Sarah

Random, you’ve put some thought into this. I was thinking that Juliet reminded Ben of his mother, because of the likeness, but you may be right.
If Annie is anyone that we already know from the losties, it’s kate. Notice the freckles. Kate was on the island before - that’s why she is so good at tracking people on the island. Also - her middle name is Annie, and on the first full flashback episode “Tabula Rasa” we see Kate use the alias Annie. If that little girl Ben loved is anyone - it has to be Kate. Remember when he tried to wine and dine Kate in season 3. Think back. It all fits into place. Anyway, the “her” Ben speaks about is his mother. Juliet resembles his mother.
I think this is as plausible as any other suggestion. Good work, +1 from me.

This has been suggested before and makes sense all except for the age difference. If it is true, Annie/Sarah would have to have time traveled into the future to meet Jack and marry him which is possible or maybe she stopped aging. Looking back now at seasson 2 when Jack wanted to find out who Sarah was leaving him for. If she really is Annie, maybe it was Ben or Richard Albert? We also know that she is pregnant in the future, who’s baby is it?
