Hi Ian. Welcome!! I was a long time user, and got discouraged with the way things have become here. Thank you for keeping this site alive and cleaning it up!!

I would love to be a moderator or just help in any way that I can.

One suggest would also be that you cannot vote on a theory unless you are leaving a comment. Some people bombard with negative votes and do not explain why. It is the discussion that is the great thing about L-T!

One more suggestion…especially since you are having moderators. Maybe coming up with a “Newbie Orientation” section for new members to check out with an overview of what has been covered heavily here and maybe a “best of” theories for them to read. The more popular the show gets, the more we have people reposting, and reposting, and reposting old theories or questions (Vincent is Michael and is in the coffin :) ). I think Newbie Orientation would be awesome!

Question: Did you have a username prior to purchasing the site?

If you’re having Mods to weed out the trolls why would you be leaving troll posts up for 2 days of flagging by before moving them? Wouldn’t the Mods be removing them straight away. Why would members have to do any flagging? That’s pretty daft. Luv the name. ‘Go Celtics’

I understand what you are saying britishchib i said two days as that was the max time if a mod could not log on for whatever reason or a post was missed.

Like the idea for newbies would have to look into that to see if it is workable, I am doing my best to change the voting system and hope that i will be able to have it so that a user cannot vote without comment,however this will take a lot of time to bring into force. I didnt have a username on the site before i purchased it

I think you will soon start to see that there really is a core group, or several core groups now, that really love this place and can act with civility. I think with your changes, the folks that kind of drove us all away with rude remarks and cussing will start to leave or act more kindly. When that happens, we will all come back, I am sure. :)

Today was the first time I had been back in a long time because of the silliness that took over.

Hello, I have been a member of this site for almost a year, and agree with all of the recommendations of ragamuffinjoe. I have been very hurt about a lot of the long time users on this site having their accounts deleted and very hurtful and sometimes obscene remarks directed toward them. :(((

I joined this site because I did believe it was the best site I had found to share thoughts and ideas with most of the persons on here that truly do love Lost.

One suggestion I would make is to allow only one account activation per address.

Another idea i had was to introduce a chat room onto the site,this could allow for users to ask questions and leave the main board for theories only. I will make a note of all other comments and hope to include as many as possible

I was going to say, BAD gateway! Shouldn’t be that hard to fix…

As for voting without posting… Nothing is going to get past a +/- 5 unless we want to end up with a long string of comments saying the same thing over and over and over…

One thing I would like to see (but I’m not sure it’s possible in this format) is posts that are getting commented on moving to the top of the list… I don’t like it when we’re having a discussion and the thread keeps moving further and further down the list and onto the second, then third page…

I moved on to a couple other sites when this one went offline and just wanted to say that this site definitely does the best job of getting conversations going… on other sites you might wait a day or two before you get a comment on a post and then discussions usually take place between three or four people only so this site is much better then the other stuff out there…

it will probably be around untill Ian here sells it off.

That’s great news, I agree with Katesawjack and Highbrow, the Bad Gateway is maddening. That should be at the top of your list as well as getting rid of the trolls, I don’t mind them as i just ignore these losers that have no life. I have confidence that the users that utilize this site will get the most out of it under your care.

I can honestly say i will not be selling this site on. I bought i because i am a genuine Lost fan,i hope that will not be the attitude of people on the site as it is a shame to think like that because of one bad experience

Hello, how about email notification when somebody has commented on your posts, or when somebody comments after your post. Otherwise, it’s hard to keep the “conversation” going because you have to remember where you’ve left comments, etc…. This may be time/cost prohibitive, I don’t know.

Not sure what a 7-day voting waiting period would accomplish, other than to frustrate new people…

Oh-oh-oh, also can we please have personalized profiles that allow us to pimp out our site and tell everybody our favorite bands and what we’re looking for in a partner, and how about being able to put pictures of kittens in the background and–oh wait, these are bad ideas…sorry…

well i have been reading this site daily for over a year but never registered as i guess you guys said all i needed but i would like to join the fight against the trolls and once i have got a few ideas together in one place i look forward to your commments.

In the meantime once you recognize written crap under a particular user name, just roll your eyes past the name and their comment in all further posts. It’s too easy to ignore really.

I would like to be a moderator. I spend a large amount of the day on this site and dearly love it! I have 23 theories, some funny, mostly good old theories and my grammar is 99% perfect. I could catch a few trolls and am a generally nice member unless pointlessly and continually provoked, in whitch case it’s mostly a troll.

Please consider me, I’ve been on the site a few months.

I am very glad that the site is still here. Welcome Ian. The only suggestion I would have is to add a way for us to look at not only our own theories but all of out other posts to everyone else’s theories. It is hard to remember what you wrote and where you wrote it. If we could see the name of the post and the person that wrote it an all of our comments that would be really helpful.
