Not sure if this has been discussed previously but I believe that the Island is a bit like Narnia in that it is currently running on a faster time scedule than the boat folks

Example 1: The missle gets shot, but arrives alot later than expected. I supect this may the ratio needed to calculate how much the difference is, as in how long the the missle should have take to how long it took.

Example 2: The dead doctor, when the losties called the boat to ask what’s up with that, the people on board were correct when saying that the doctor was right there, becasue it hasn’t happened yet.

So when the island calls the boat they are speaking to folks in the past and when the peole on the boat call the island they are speaking to folks in the future.

This would also explain the rough ride the chopper has when going to and fro , because there is a time shift that is being crossed each way.

I believe the last time we discussed this, Michael Jackson had just left the Jackson 5.

Also, I think what we are going to find out if this is true is that, when Jack and crew return to the island, alot more time has passed for the island bound losties then for Jack and crew. Possibly something like 5-10 years

The writers have stuck Charlotte Staples Lewis (C.S. Lewis - author of The Chronicles Of Narnia) into this season.

(kateismywife is amusingly right, though - the time issue on and off the Island is one of the most-discussed things around this site.)
