How do we know the entire Island was gassed? I mean that’s a lot of gas.

You military guys and gals please weigh in.
People keep bringing up how long Danielle and Alex have been on the Island and how it’s a problem with Horace Godspeed’s story and move on from there into time manipulation…
How do we know the entire Island was gassed? I mean that’s a lot of gas I would think. Were the horses, polar bears and boars wearing gas masks? I think targets were gassed.

you’re right. At some point, the gas becomes so mixed with regular air that it is not lethal. Like the way a fart eventually dissipates. So, the attackers had to hit small areas with large numbers of people.
I’m not sure the idea that Danielle survived a purge is what bothers me.
What bothers me is that Danielle and her science team arrived on the Island, changed the radio tower signal, patrolled around the place… and never bumped into a single Dharma person! Roger Linus was driving around in his van on beer missions. There were explosions going off. Danielle existed on the Island for 4 years without ever seeing anyone, and having no one see her.
Furthermore, she had her one week old child kidnapped by The Others, and apparently Ben took care of her as a father. Admittedly, we don’t know when that started. But it would have to suggest that Ben took care of Alex when she was 4 years old, because there was no sign of any Alex at The Barracks (that were purged!) during the episode The Man Behind The Curtain.
I agree A.C.-Danielle had to arrive post-purge. It doesn’t work any other way. Horace is wrong. He has been dead for a minimum of 16 years. That, or Danielle’s entire backstory is a deception.
You know what bothers me about Danielle, and Karl too for that matter. Well I know you didn’t ask,but anyway…..
Who buried them in that shallow grave?
