So Horus didn’t die. His body was then replaced by Ben.
Ben needed Locke to find the map. He may have seemed powerless from Locke’s dream with Horus, but whenever we take credit from Ben, it usually ends up with Ben orchestrating everything.

I agree with you. I think that horace did not die, but maybe he is time travelling. Ben wanted john to find the map to find the cabin because he knew christian would be in it.
But Horace did die. In “The Man Behind the Curtain” Ben goes up to Horace’s dead body, laying on a bench, and closes his eyes, remember?
