I think its something like this, Ben can’t kill Widmore because he is his constant, we’ve seen what looks like Ben travelling to Tunisia 2005, obviously he’s going to need a constant for that and its probably Widmore, and thats why he can’t kill him, because if he does its goodnight for Ben.

Also Ben tells Widmore that he’s going to kill Penny and we know that Penny is Desmonds constant so Des ain’t gonna let that happen, because if he does, its good night Des. So Des will probably try to foil Bens plan to kill Penny which will mean that Bens gonna have take out Des too, but the thing about that is Desmond is Faradays constant and if Desmonds dies then its goodnight Faraday, Faraday probably can’t do nothing about this being just scientist, but what hes got together with Charlotte by that time? Shes a psycho! And I bet they figure out that the simplest thing to do is just kill Ben, because as you probably noticed Widmore was very careful not to let his men kill Ben even though he hates him, this is because Ben is Widmores constant. So they take out Ben and that kills Ben and Widmore, and this sorts everyting out meaning Penny, Des and Faraday don’t have to die.

I know theres not a lot of room for expansion, but if anyones got any ideas feel free.

We don’t definitely know he’s time travelled as 2005 is when the losties get off of the island presumably because the whole thing is set around 2004/2005. -1 from me.

I have to disagree with you ‘theislandsavemylife’, your core idea is based of the premise that Widmore can’t be kill by Ben because of a ‘constant’ relationship. However, if you think about episode refferences to characters not being able to die, I think first to Michael in the ‘Meet Kevin Johnson’ episode. As such, I don’t think Ben can kill Widmore for the same reason Michael can’t die- the Island won’t let him. He has more work to do…

I’m with potus. Also Faraday said your constant had to be something you cared about very much. I don’t think Ben cares for Widmore at all, much less, than enough for Widmore to be Ben’s constant.
