So I am sure there are many ways to shoot this down, but im going to roll with it anyways…
Locke is Ben’s older half brother. Locke is born to a woman named Emily. As he is born, he is torn out of her hands, and she asks for them to call him john as he is taken away. Fast forward, years later. Emily has moved on with her life, shacked up with a Roger Workman, and is again giving premature birth to Ben. Just before she dies, she asks that the baby be named Benjamin. Take a look at the photos of young emily locke… and emily linus as she appears to ben, pretty close resemblance, eh?
Faults in this theory… Emily dies giving birth to ben, but Emily shows up later on in Locke’s life (although im not entirely sure that this emily is his mother).

I think that is an absolutely brilliant theory. I had never even considered the fact that they could be brothers, nor had I noticed the connection with the mothers both being named Emily. Wonderful find and catch. Well done.
Theories have been posted on this already. I thought of it a while ago.
Although this is a very good theory, I don’t think Ben and Locke are half-brothers. If they were, I think the same woman would’ve been chosen to play there mother, not two different woman. Plus Ben’s mother has blond hair, Locke’s has red AND Ben’s mother is dead, Locke’s isn’t. I dunno, I just don’t think they’re related.
chelsea… locke’s mom as an elderly woman has red hair, when she was young (as portrayed in cabin fever) she had blonde hair and looked very similar to the woman that played bens mom. yeah.. the fact that bens mom being dead is something that has crossed my mind. I would like to see if i can find out who was driving the car that hit emily locke.
I’ve been thinking that maybe Ben and John were born at the same time… I know Ben seems younger than John but it’s hard to tell the age of the people living on the island (Richard is how old?). Two children born under similar circumstances… They’re both born early and given names by their mothers as the mothers died… I don’t remember if there was a clue as to the timeframe of Bens birth… maybe the car Horace was driving?
They aren’t born at the same time. The song playing in Emily Locke’s room is from a certain year…I can’t remember, but when Ben is born, the car that Horace is in is from a later year. So, Ben is actually younger than Locke, by maybe about 10 or so years.
anthony copper admittedly conned locke’s “mother” into finding him. its entirely possible that emily locke/linus is dead, and that this other women is simply a pawn. the only problem with that is why would she go on about immaculate conception? i think if ben and locke were related, it might be more likely that they share a father (richard alpert?).
