If everyone would be so kind as to keep all Cabin Fever observations under comments in this post in order to keep short little observations from clogging up the theories page. Once you have developed a theory regarding any observations it would be lovely if you posted a new theory about it.
First observation! (Rather obvious…) Michael still cannot die. What work does he still have left? =)
I’m having a hard time getting the whole post to show up… but my goal is to get everyone to post observations from Cabin Fever under this post in order to keep from clogging the theories page with short little observations.
=)
A quick question, are these Locke flashbacks showing us history of what has occurred, or is Richard time travelling to certain points in the past to influence Locke’s future? To effect better outcomes?
Yea, i think Michael still has work to do.
Also… Richard at Locke’s Hospital/Day Care home or w/e? And LOcke’s picture on the wall?
Did, A.) Locke create the smoke monster? or did he foresee it in his future? B.) When was Richard born? Was he born in the future and travel to the past? Born in the 20’s and just living long, not aging, and omnipresent? What is his deal? C.) Is the Cabin “DEAD” too? D.) What Did Ben mean by…”I Used to have Dreams….” ? Any clues? I’m not sure but i have a feeling that he is suggesting that since he knows his future, he knows what will happen, he doesn’t have dreams… his mind is so enlightened on the events in past present future that dreams are LOST in the process. +1
Good idea to keep all observations and thoughts in this post.
Couple random things/observations/thoughts…
I’m of the opinion that Alpert is traveling back in time to make sure that Locke is the right person “for the job” if you will. That’s why there’s a certain sort of reverence of Locke by the Others in Season 3 - Alpert has seen enough by traveling back to let them know that he could be the one that ends up saving the island.
Creepy scene in the cabin with Christian, Claire, and Locke, if only because of the way that Claire looks in the entire scene. She seems completely unconcerned about Aaron and at peace with whatever decision (is she even alive?) has been made.
-Similarities between Locke and Ben: Mothers are both named Emily, both born prematurely, mothers didn’t raise them. -Young Locke is playing backgammon. -Drawings of Smokey. -The doctor being alive, so the island is in the future (time lag?). -Teen Locke: his teacher mentions his amazing work on the science project about Costa Mesa, wiki’d it and Costa Mesa’s sister city is Werribee, Australia. Interesting. -Richard and Abbaddon are both recruiting Locke for their respective bosses/leaders. -Abbaddon says he’s done the walkabout, so he’s been on the Island.

has anyone noticed that a) lockes mother does not look pregnant at all when she gets hit by the the car b) horace confirmed that the purge occured 12 years before, yet Alex was 16, so where was she the four years before Ben joined the others?
It is also my opinion that Bens looks small and insignificant in the whole episode. Also, could Ben and John be brothers?? Both mothers are named Emily, and in the show, peoples names are given much consideration.
congrats to sitting in trees who totally wins with his theory about the island!! http://lost-theories.com/theories/2008/may/03/moving-cabin-unfixed-island/ am impressed :)
Oh and who is Johns dad? That is what I want to know!!!
Ok yeah, the original sawyer is Johns dad. DUH!!! sorry
Omar to the doctor : Strange call, we got it from the sat phone on the island that said the doctor from the freighter had washed up on shore ,and his throat was cut. Then the doctor said : That can’t be I’m the doctor. And then we see Keamy grab the doctor and slit his throat ,then throw him overboard. I think that event agrees, with my theory,of time is faster on the island.

you can’t pull the trigger 3 times on a pistol and have it click each time. One time, that’s it (unless it fires which it didn’t). This has nothing to do with Lost I’m sure. But it is a common fault that we get with guns and movies/tv shows. It’s like playing russian roulette with a pistol. It just don’t make sense.
So where does that leave us at the end of the episode.
Mysteries: The morse code message is recieved before Doc Ray is killed. So at that point in time there existed two Dr Ray’s, one on the islnad and one on the freighter!!!!
Mystery: How do you move an island?
Mystery: When Locke met Richard on the island why did he not recognise him? Next time though, will he remember those childhood events?
Mystery Why does Keamy want to kill so many people, if he is truely after Ben?
Mystery: where exactly did Jacob go to?
had anyone noticed that Horace Goodspeed cut the same tree 3 times in Locke´s dream ? I know this is not so relevant, because it was a dream… but, I want to be sure if anyone else noticed (maybe it is another side effect of my pills.. LOL)
(Dharma311 … . -Teen Locke: his teacher mentions his amazing work on the science project about Costa Mesa … )

Now maybe some writer actually did this and threw it into the mix … but for high school students they offer this program.
Science Fair Initiative The CaSTL Center actively invites K-12 students of community high schools to conduct Science Fair projects in CaSTL laboratories under supervision of CaSTL PIs.
And what happens to be a course in one of those laboratories?
“We offer a special course entitled ‘Chemistry at the Space-Time Limit’ for graduate students … In this course, the behavior of molecules on the ultrafast timescales is explained through vivid examples of the latest experimental and theoretical insights acquired by the Center.
Another random tangent of course, but it certainly lends itself nicely to the whole ideology. :P Just a post for fun :)
I don’t think they are going to litterally move the island. I think they will find a way to change the coordinates so that the island can not be found.
DAVE, i think that changing the coordinates means that the island is moved. Ahhh maybe I am not understanding your point. Please elaborate.
LaMer, this thread was a good idea but as you can see already there are many posts on the front page and some are repeating the same ideas already. We have two threads on Lost Time anagrams, two threads on similarities between Ben and Locke’s birth.
So if people can not check the latest 10 posts before creating a new post with the same material, it is doubtful they will even get to this post, which is moving further down page 1 as we speak.
But 10/10 for making the effort. Stitch
Interesting point on the name “abandon” … the name could possibly be a reference to the demon when evaluating the religious themes of the show…. check out the wiki page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abaddon_(demon)
Honestly, my heads’s still spinning. We received a huge download of facts tonight. Abbadon himself plants the walkabout seed in Locke’s head. You’ll owe me one? Wow. Effect before cause with the dead Dr.? Wow. Christian speaking on Jacob’s behalf? Wow. Mittelos active since Locke’s high school years? Wow. Freighties Vs. Mercs? Wow. Only 1 small boat’s worth of survivors. Destiny’s a fickle bitch. Wow.
KEAMY opens the “plan b” folder, and what is on the first page? A dharma logo.
Does this mean Widmore is behind Dharma???
+1 Wish people would actually read the bloody posts first.
Okay.
Yes, did notice Plan B had Dharma Logo.
Abandon and Widmore work for the Devil and Jacob/Ben/Island Protectors work for God.
THe Island is Eden.
Smokey is Cereberus the Guardian Dog.
Locke is Jesus?
Jack is…………..a fool? Or Judas maybe?
Claire the Virgin Mary?
“…Abaddon…rendered in Greek as Apollyon…” from wiki, Apollyon; “leading the locust plague that will be released on God’s enemies in the End Times:”
Now I’m not a major in Lost Academia. Over and over there pops up considerations and angles I’ve never heard of. Maybe it’s due time to review all the material. Seeing as the creators spent what, four years making this, it’ll take some serious effort to paste everything together?
Anyway, I seem to recall something about changing the Valenzetti Equation, and some faction believing this can be done by controlled genocide?
Need to check the facts, but still, might it be that Abaddon and in turn Paik/Widmore represent that faction? Why else go for that name?
Anyone notice that the doctor got his throat cut and then the helicopter flew to the island….but the body washed ashore on the island in the day and the helicopter didnt show up on the island until it was night . If the doctor was killed and the helicopter took off around the same time, how did the body wash up on the shore a whole day sooner than the helicopter?
@ Tyrant. Because of different bearing.
Stop the time differences nonsense. Obviously it’s a gimmick and deux et machina tool
@RealSayyid
The helicopter journey from the island to the boat took approximately twenty-thirty minutes when Desmond and Sayid first went. Jack and the others on the beach had to wait for two days[uncertain, but it was days] for the call from the boat. The time difference is real, and significant. Other than that definitions are scarce.
I am confused as to how, if Richard Alpert has met John Locke at various points in his life, that Locke did not recognise him when he gave him the file on Cooper? and If I remember right, didn’t Richard introduce himself by saying ‘Hi I’m Richard’ .
So what is cooking there? or have I missed/forgotten something?
Sol, if Alpert “mind-shifted” back to those events then Locke would not remember them, in the same way that Daniel did not remember. This is the writer’s way of avoiding some of the paradoxes that would otherwise arise.
Well he was quite young when richard met him, he probably and simply does’nt remember, Can you remember people you were introduced too at seven or eight?
kahana—i noticed. and this might seem strange or silly, but the repetition brought to mind the message from princess leia that r2d2 plays (the one that gets stuck on her plea “help us obi wan kenobi, you’re our only hope). also, the number 3 is thought be many to have special significance — e.g., the holy trinity, unity of knowledge, the superstition that bad/good things happen in threes (i subscribe to this one). a small detail for a short scene, to be sure, but the scene was such an important one that it may make sense to engage in some uber-analyzing of the details. and +1 for the post — useful and appreciated. cheers!
Maybe I miss heard which happens all the time, but did Ben say leaders or leader?
Cilcost, I don’t have a full memory of being 7 or 8, but I do remember specific events, such as when Louise Lee gave me a ‘Quickflash’, my first visual introduction to female anatomy!!, and I also remember Paul O’Halloran singing ‘Under the moon of Love’ by Showaddywaddy to a teacher (by the way we are talking 1977 here)…..
So I am pretty certain i would remember if some geezer turned up with, among other things, a big Hunting Knife, asking me to tell him what was mine……any boy would have picked the knife over everything else, I know I would have, and I’d have been off carving names into trees.
jackseyes, that could be it, but I need to think about it more.
The doctor walking around the freighter alive and washing up dead on shore makes me wonder about our losties walking around the Island alive and sitting on the bottom of the ocean floor dead…
