OK, following on from my post below - a possible explanation for the term ‘Frozen Donkey Wheel’ (the phrase the Lost producers have used to describe the major event within the series finale.
Donkey Wheel - A device used to extract water from deep wells. A deep well…suggestive of ‘Hatch’….the first person we find down the well/Hatch is Desmond.
Donkey - Beast of burden used to operate the wheel, but with no idea as to reason why they are involved!! Des = Donkey. Des is trying to bring Penny back to him, with no idea that Ben is pulling the strings behind for his won ulterior motives!!
Frozen - Reference to Penny’s people out in the Antartic. The first time we realised that the losties were still connected to the ‘real world’.
What do you think??
I need to get a life!!!!!!!!

i dont think the words frozen donkey wheel should be too literally. remember the ff reveal last season was code named “snake in a mail box”.
i think they just picked a random phrase and use it as their code word. whatever the “frozen donkey wheel” is, i think it has nothing to do with frozen, donkeys, or wheels . :)
I think the frozen donkey wheel is the code name for the “time machine” or whatever ben went through that ancient door to achieve. He was wearing a parka, steam was coming off him from cold to hot temperature change, and he had just time warped or teleported or whatever. A donkey wheel in a simple form is any machine powered by a living thing producing the energy required to make it function. So I assume the frozen donkey wheel is a machine that makes time and space travel possible and it is powered by whatever the island is powered by, which i assume is smokey or something natural to the island.
This is the most contrived theory I’ve ever heard. Absolutely stupid.
I think that they’re just coming up with another cool name for a college band (I watch too many podcasts).
i had read that the ‘frozen donkey wheel’ term was going to be associated somehow with sawyer…so i’m going to have to say no on the whole des=donkey theory ;)
I havent heard these codes before…
Maybe “Snake in a mailbox” means there is a “snake” (evil person) in the coffin. Having said that, I dont think the codes mean anything at all. It is just the writers messing with us. Even if the codes did mean something, and my above interpretation of “Snake in a mailbox” were generally correct, that doesnt mean that we are going to be able to figure out what Frozen Donkey Wheel means. However, if you were going to attempt to figure it out, I think this was decently thought out… :-)
yes i agree…you do need to get a life :)
Hmmm, some of you perhaps need a lesson in ‘sarcasm’! Only really meant in jest. For fun….oh forget it!!
Hi CamaroHeed, the “snake in a mailbox” was the secret code used by the producers when they were talking about the surprise revelation in the series 3 finale; that we were seeing a flashforward. We all now can see what that code meant, the writers were giving the viewers a surprise shock, as big a shock as seeing a snake in a mailbox.
As to what the season 4 finale twist will be is anyone’s guess but I think that it will have to do with some portal that allows people like Tom and Ben to move quickly off and on the island.
