Just an obsevation - After Ben has supposedly Time jumped he had a cut on his arm in Ep 9. What was the point of showing this - it must have some significance or why show it?
Go back to the opening scene of series 1. Jack is on his back and has a cut on his back - a side effect of time jumping. I’m sure there are other examples where people have woken up on their backs as well - did they have any cuts (John Locke?)
It kinda backs up my other theory that Jack has been on the island before.

i belive jack is cut because he was in a plane crash and landed in a jungle, he could have easily cut himself on a tree as he was falling.
while on the other hand with ben i think taht just before he “time jumed” he was being attacked and shot or something like that.
Everyone has been linking the back and eye thing, but I haven’t thought or read anything about the two similar wounds. Nice catch! +1
ummm yeah john has been cut before, like that huge gash across his eye haha. notably: it’s one of the few scars that has stayed visible throughout the show despite all other characters at least being scratched in the crash or online. could help support- only time jump scratches stay; they don’t heal like everything else does on the island.
When I saw ‘The Shape of Things to Come Again’, I suddenly saw the resemblance. I think there’s something there. +!
You’re right. There HAS to be a connection +1
We saw Jack on Oceanic 815 just before it got ripped apart in mid-air. We saw it. Then we saw him lying flat in the jungle, where he had sustained an injury as a result of being in a plane crash.
(And to argue that he is distanced from the rest of the survivors is not wholly accurate; wreckage and luggage were scattered all over the place. and there were those unfortunate passengers that are sitting in the bottom of the pool that Sawyer and Kate swam in.)
There was no time travelling or teleporting involved.
Woah AC, it was just a simple observation - I ain’t argued anything about how far Jack was from the plane - I don’t like the way the show appears to be going with the time jumping but somehting is happening along those lines - you’ve also got to remember that people don’t survive plane crashes like the way the losties have - mind travel, time travel is a big part of the show!
I have to admit, I would love the last episode of the last series to be Jack working out a way to time travel back to the island, and I think it would be a perfect way to resolve his misery after leaving.
AngeloComet I agree we do see Jack in Oceanic 815 before the crash, but have we had proof that that scene was from that time around? Could it have been that the crash was the first time Jack got to the island and woke up in the state that he did, but not necessarily that time? +1
Mr Alpert, I believe it is possible that when Ben teleported, he could have sustained something similar to a chemical burn from that process. If you have read up on “The Philadelphia Experiment”, it is purported that some of the survivors had burns, and/or limbs missing, after that experiment.
I have heard many people theorize on Jack being to “the island” previously, however I am unsure if I believe in the “time loop” theories.
Good work! +1
…has anyone mentioned that he was wearing Hallowax’s coat…Marvin Candle…the guy with the prosthetic, then real, then prosthetic arm? The same arm Ben had a cut on?…Bueller?
Mise, I believe it has been noted, in addition to the name being misspelled. As for the prosthetic arm, the jury seems to be still out on that one. I don’t know what to make of that one.
Maybe he got cut fighting Hallowax for the jacket? It’s a nice jacket, after all.
Interesting observation but I really have never believed that “Jack’s been there before” theories.
And speaking of scars…why doesn’t jack have one on his back on the left side where Kate sewed him up like a set of curtains right after the crash…or did I miss that scar?
