Doesn’t Jack suddenly getting sick, and charlotte and daniel (the outsides) running off for supplies, look alot like the time clare got sick and juliette went off to get medicine.

Could they have done something to jack to make his appendix burst?

When Rose said that it was weird that jack would get sick now, that could be a clue that it wasn’t natural?

What’s everyone think?

I think that they laid so much of it out there on the table in this episode. The writers like to drop little hints here and there about things, but as time goes on, they make it more apparent. We were all asking ourselves last year why Locke was healed and Ben, who seems to has the greatest communion with the island, got a tumor in his spine. “Is the island mad at Ben?” We would ask all of these questions, and as time has moved on, I think we are seeing that Ben got selfish and really did make the island mad, so it gave him the tumor.

The conversation between Bernhard and Rose revealed a lot. She said, “this islands heals people,” and he replies, “do you think the gods are mad at him?” That’s about as strait forward as it gets. Jack thinks that what he’s doing is saving survivors and he is doing a good thing. He has convinced himself of that, so now the island is trying to convince him otherwise. Do you think he will listen? I’d say…not yet.

I’m concerned about the fact that Jack doesn’t recognize the problem to be his appendix. He is sold on it being food poisoning and it’s Juliet who seems to know it is appendicitis.

Juliet was acting strange the entire episode. I’m not sure what to make of it all.

Jack doesn’t have a scar from this in the flash forward.. was jack sick at all?

    Jack does have a scar… there’s a whole thread about it below…

It’s funny that you mention Ben’s tumor. He found the tumor and two days later a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky. Maybe the island was trying to make some kind of connection? Forcing Ben to allow Jack to save him? To trust his life to someone he can’t trust? Same thing with Jack only it’s his appendix and he has to trust Juliet even though she basically already told him that he cannot trust her…

Juliet’s probably realizing she’s no longer on the top of Jack’s list. I know it’s been said a hundred times already, but when she was talking about her kiss with Jack, it sounded like she was trying to convince herself, not Kate.

Commenting on highbrow’s comments. Not sure if this was covered elsewhere, but it has been bothering me that Ben needed Jack to save him, when clearly Ben possesses the ability to leave the island and has all the financial means to have an operation off the island. Perhaps it was a test.

it depends on the consequences of leaving the island whether he could, besides he had a plane full of people crash on his island, if he could get surgery without leaving, he would.

I think Jack did know it was appendicitis he was hoping to convince juliette and make her leave him alone.

LaMer: Jack knew what it was, he just didn’t want to admit it.

I think it was fairly stupid of Jack to insist on Kate being in the operating room when he knows how Juliet feels about him. She might have botched it on those grounds alone. Men do not get women.

Nlapinsk - Ben probably would be too scared that widmore might catch him. Plus if he was off island he probably wouldn’t heal quickly, and would be stuck in the real world for months. An I think that would be Ben’s idea of hell.

I don’t Jack was sick at all. I think him and Juliet are up to something. I think they are putting a con over on Kate for some reason? Bernard’s in on it too. But I’m guessing that Jack never went out and that they never actually took out the apendix. He was awake at the end and Juliet knew. It was all a show to get Kate to trust Juliet.
