Well Seth you do have a sense of humour and maybe you just need to channel that humour into your comments and theories.

I think that the reality of the situation is that every single micro second of last weks episode has been examined, discussed and debated, so most people now are just waiting for the next episode to have a new 40 minutes worth of Lost to examine, discuss and debate.

So just look through the 8 pages of theories that have been added over the last six days. Most you will see get three or four comments, why, because a) theories at this time stay on the main page for only a short time and b) often the comments that you could make have already been given by someone else.

So read the threads, post some comments and just see this is as one site among many where you can engage in the strange pasttime of theorizing what Lost could be really about.

Hi, Seth. Welcome to the site. It may help if you look at it like this:

Imagine you’re awandering in the wild west and you stumble upon a trading post. The folk inside are regulars, they are welcoming to newcomers but some turn to stare at you as you enter, others carry on drinking, not giving you a second look. They are there to replenish their hunger and thirst and trade. On this site we are also here to trade- we exchange ideas about Lost. If you’re a Newbie you earn your respect over time, you are only as valuable as your theories or your comments to others’ theories or other ways in which you can add value to the group (humour, info etc.)

Imagine you are crash landed on an island and you have to find your place/role in the group. Do you remember when Charlie was jealous of Kate’s concern about Jack and he said “I’m Charlie by the way”? This is how you are being at the moment. If you remember Charlie became a much-loved member of the group eventually, but only through caring for claire and Aaron, not by being a petulant whining heroin addict demanding attention. So your treatment is perhaps normal in terms of group dynamics. People are accepted to the group for what they bring to the group.

if you extend my metaphor further, Clover etc. Are perhaps acting as gatekeepers, guards, or bouncers keeping out rifraf and checking your credentials before they let you in. If you come to be a respected member of the group you may one day benefit from this kind of member throwing their weight around!

Hey seth, if you’re still here, I that way a little bit at first…everybody does when they show up someplace new. People have to get to know you and it takes time for them to trust that you can make a contribution and are not just wasting everybody’s time.

To do that, you have to do your homework. You have to read posts and find out what has been posted before. I read theories on this site for weeks before I felt that I was up to speed enough to post my first theory.

This site delivers more substance than most because of the quality of it’s members.

That said, it also expects more from those who post here.

I’ve come to understand that you earn your place on this site, it isn’t just handed to you. I’m still earning mine and you can earn yours too. Even those who have been members here for a long time still have to “earn their keep here” Just relax, read, learn and then contribute. I think you will find it can be a lot of fun.

The answer to your question is: No, you are not being treated unfairly, you are just not being treated the way you want to be treated…and that is a very different thing. Time to put on the bigboy pants becasue there is no hand-holding here.

alright i’ve had enough of this… i said i would stay out of this once i said my peace but a recent discovery has really annoyed me. seth if you’re not happy with the way you’re being treated i’m sorry that’s up for you and only you to change. but don’t go around to other people’s theories and voting negatives on them because you feel they have scorned you. not only is it childish and pathetic but it negates the work people put into writing them down. just because you feel like being petty doesn’t give you the write to mess with other people’s theories. if you read them and like disagree comment and say your peace but don’t just slap a -1 without putting in the effort to read what another memeber has posted… grow a set and please knock it off. at this point it would almost be worth it if you created a new screen name and signed up with a different personality… this is getting to be a bit much now

To be honest, it’s kind of a refreshing change to hear someone open up and say “hey i’m really hurt by people being mean to me :( ” rather than just go right in to a flame war… it’s a very human thing to do which isn’t seen on the net too much i dont think.

That being said, it paves the way for you to be picked on to f*kery… shame he doesnt seem to realise when to just shutup and stop worrying about what other people think of him.
