If a man unable to reproduce travels back in time to a state in which he is able to do such a thing, then impregnates his wife. The Universal corrective processes would definitely come into play

— IronY

Hello all, I am a very avid reader of this website and enjoy everyone’s theory’s and input. You all allow me to pass the days between lost episodes with as little lost withdrawal as possible. This is my first post, and is not much a theory, but rather a thought. Concerning Jin Kwon, his tombstone, and wondering of his whereabouts after the Oceanic Six leave the island, I have concluded the following…

The most prevalent theory on this site was time travel, which was later on in the series confirmed to be a key concept. Before arriving on the island, Jin was unable to reproduce. He suffered a medical condition (I am unable to remember the exact problem) that prevented him from conceiving a child with his wife. Because of the unique properties the island presents (id. Est. No cancer for rose, walking for John) Jin finally is able to conceive and Sun becomes pregnant. After much research into the theory’s presented on this forum in regards to time travel, I began further familiarizing myself with the paradoxes associated with this science. Using the grandfather paradox, and the mother and its child paradox, one can come to the deductive logic on why Jin was unable to depart aside Sun. If a man unable to reproduce travels back in time to a state in which he is able to do such a thing, then impregnates his wife. The Universal corrective processes would definitely come into play. Perhaps Jin was unable to leave the island because it would have undesired implications for Sun and their unborn child. Just a thought, again, this is my first post. So I would greatly appreciate comments, if you enjoy my thoughts, I would definitely be delighted to share on a more regular basis.

Well welcome, and great first post! +1 This is a good thought and makes alot of sense, gonna go look up the grandfather paradox now.

    I don’t get it.

A ‘future Jin’ that develops the capacity to impregnate his wife goes back in time to do so?

Why not accept the story we’ve been given? That Jin could not conceive off-Island. But then he came to the Island and, like how Rose’s cancer was cured and Locke’s paralysis removed, he could conceive.

Juliet - “Did you know that the average male sperm count is between sixty and eighty million? But on the Island, its five times that. We call that good odds.”

The D.O.C. for Ji Yeon was stated as occuring during Jin and Sun’s time on the Island as further validation of this point.

Welcome to the site. (I hope me being me hasn’t bugged you and put you off sticking around and posting again.)

Why do all newcomers write theories about baby’s?

  4. StitchExp626 May 1, 2008 6:48 a.m. Comment: 4

Mosh compared to another coffin theory, this one is fantastic. Well not fantastic, but pretty good.

Though I don’t see if Jin can travel in time, then why would he go to a time that sees him in a plane crash and then separated from his wife?

    Ok just passable!

IronY: welcome aboard anyway and thanks for your contribution. Remember life on a Lost board is meant to be fun!!!

I never wrote a theory about a baby and i’m a “new comer” it’s also not nice to say that, during the short time ive been here i haven’t seen you write a theory, but make criticisms about people who do write theories.

I think it’s a good idea, but im with AngeloComet, there just doesn’t seem to be any reason to over complicate an already very complicated story line with this, I think it’s simply that Jin is more fertile on the island and then dies doing something heroic in an island battle which kills a lot of the 815ers including Sawyer and Claire.

Ok, I’ve to admit that my comments are not always that serious, it was meant as a joke, because the previous theory about a baby (Ji Yeon and Aaron) was written by a newcomer and everyone said like: “This is a good example of a newcomer with a great first post.” Sorry if anyone has been offended in any way, but I was just playing around.

As for me not posting theories: In the last 2 days, I’ve posted 3 new theories (with one not really a theory but an observation.) I don’t see myself as someone who just criticizes everyone, but more as someone who “keeps in the humor spirit” Again, I never meant to offend someone although that may sometimes seem that way because of my sarcasm.

And as for this theory: I just don’t like it (the reason: read AC’s post) but as Stitch pointed out: It’s always better than a coffin theory ^.^

OMG thanks for pointing that out for me, MacCutcheon

Damn….the Island is clearly not working positive for my spelling.

Just in case you missed what I was saying, Just like rose who had cancer then landed on the island and no longer had it, jin was unable to knock Sun up, then he went to the island, and that was fixed, viola, Sun is pregnant. So if Rose doesn’t want to leave the island because she is afraid of her cancer coming back, Lock doesn’t want to leave the island because he is afraid he might be paralyzed again. By this logic if Jin left the island, he would not be able to conceive again. So this baby of his was technically impossible, a miracle birth of sorts. I am not sure how the dynamics work of all this, but It was definitely worth noting, I was actually quite surprised no one else pointed it out.

I’d just like to respectfully point out that males never conceive. They impregnate. To conceive is to become pregnant.

    IronY,

I actually pointed that out a while ago, in the comment section to my own theory. I said:

…Obviously, Ji Yeon lives, and is delivered as a healthy baby girl. …off the island, Jin would never have been able to father Ji Yeon (his low sperm count, or whatever). It is only on the island that he was able to father her, so if he stays (back in time) then he will remain the father of the baby he helped conceive…and sun can go on to deliver the child away from the island, but if he got off the island, THAT would introduce a paradox, he would not have been able to father the baby he actually fathered.
