I need help understanding why Ben would let the fail safe key be turned?? If you want to stop time at a point why then give it up?
If Ben created the field or found the field, why would he stop letting the clock being restarted?

Ben had nothing to do with it, if your talking about the time that supposedly made the plane crash then Desmond was out finding kelvin and didnt get back in time. if your talking about the second time it wasnt pushed locke locked himself into the computer room till it went off. hope this helps
