There was a subtle clue in “Meet Kevin Johnson” that got me thinking about the island. Mr. Friendly, after saying goodbye to his Italian companion, told Michael that he likes to “indulge” himself. In an earlier season, Mr. Friendly tells Kate that she’s “not his type.” Chances are that Mr. Friendly is a little more than friendly; he’s gay. Could this be a solitary event or is this revealing something bigger? Just look at the facts we know about the island;
1 - No one can get pregnant on the island or they die; in Juliet’s flashback we see numerous women who die during child birth, in fact, that’s why Ben brought her over in the first place. Ben is very fearful that Alex is going to get pregnant. Juliet tells Sun that she will die if she has her baby on the island.
2 - Everyone adopts kids; Ben adopted Alex, the flight attendant lady adopted those two little kids from the plane, Ms. Clue tried to adopt Walt.
3 - They have book clubs; Juliet’s book club had a lot of guys in it.
4 - Anyone who has heterosexual sex dies; Goodwin has sex with Juliet and gets killed, Carl has sex with Alex and gets killed, Sawyer had sex with Kate and would have gotten killed if they didn’t save him at the end of last season.
5 - Animals do not procreate on the island; the animals on the island are all gay too. None of them procreate that’s why we see so few polar bears and boars and horses. If they had the ability to have hetero sex then there would be a lot more of them running around.
Basically, straight guys die after having hetero sex and straight women die from giving birth…which coincidentally is a result of hetero sex. The island also has a smoke monster which leaves ash behind as it travels. Dante wrote about a layer in inferno that homosexuals went to where it “rained fire.” Perhaps the smoke monster is a modern interoperation of that concept.
I think that the Dharma Initiative know that the island had healing powers but also knew that it was a gay paradise and wanted to do experiments to change that. This way when the world is in fear of destruction, they could move everyone to the island and continue the human race.
And ‘Richard Alpert’ is an anagram for ‘Rectal Hard Rip’.

This isn’t trying to be funny. Read Dante’s Inferno, he speaks a lot about the land where you can not procreate. And this show had religious undertones.

If that were true i would be pissed and wouldn’t watch anymore. i mean, i have nothing against gays or anything but the more people feel the need to emphasize homosexuality, the further they actually push it away and separate it from society. if you’re gonna be gay, be gay, just dont do it during my favorite prime-time drama

At least he did some research about this theory. Thats more than you can say about most postings on this site. I don’t agree with this posting but think he might have some valid points. Let’s not be too quick to judge and calling people “gay” is not nice. Lets all be friends…
Oh, c’mon — my comment was totally a joke. I wasn’t calling anyone “gay.” I liked this theory. I don’t buy into it, but I found it well-thought-out and put together. I just thought saying, “This theory is gay,” was too funny to pass up.

The theory cannot be true because just imagine the uproar if it turned out that it was proposing that homosexuality was at the root of all the Losties’ troubles. No TV series would want to be the target of that.

Not sure that we know that animals can’t procreate on the Island, either. As I recall, early in the series, Locke is tracking a sow boar who’s had piglets, who are half-grown now. The abundance of boars on the Island is a fairly good indication that some form of reproduction is taking place. Gay boars? I doubt it. Although I undersand there are gay bears, lol.

alex is rousseau’s daughter but ben adopted her to make sure she never knew about rousseau and so he could have daughter… its actually kinda smart
