Miles isn’t working for Widmore or Ben…I believe he is working for a 3rd party.

— vegarover

Alright, this theory isn’t as concrete as some of the other ones I’ve posted, but after watching the last episode of the first half of season 4 (Meet Kevin Johnson), I think now that Miles isn’t working for Widmore or Ben…I believe he is working for a 3rd party.

The the thing that really struck me was Miles little introduction to Michael/Kevin on the freighter. Miles told him that he knew his name really wasn’t Kevin, but not to worry, because 80% of the people on the freighter were lying about something.

Also, Ben reiterates in this episode just how evil he thinks Charles Widmore is, and that the island can’t fall into his hands. So, a few episodes back (Eggtown) when Kate arranges the meeting between Ben and Miles…I think that when Miles posted the question “do you know who I work for?”, Ben knew exactly who he did work for, and it wasn’t Charles Widmore.

I think this explains Ben’s willingness to deal/cooperate with Miles. I don’t think its a simple case of Ben wanting to save his own hide. Even though Ben can’t be trusted, I don’t think he is a cowardly man…case in point his mission to get captured by the Losties in the guise of Henry Gale.

Ben’s acceptance of dealing with Miles’ employer is probably a lesser of two evils situation in Ben’s mind, but no matter what, he doesn’t want Widmore to get control of the island. He could also be playing both sides against each other so neither one gets control of the island, considering that’s a very “Ben” thing to do.

The first person who comes to mind that Miles could be working for is Mr. Paik (Sun’s father). Paik Heavy Industries could have built or supplied the ship that planted the fake wreckage of flight 815. Or, they could have a ship that can bring up the wreckage to prove that is was staged. Much like Howard Hughe’s Glomar Explorer.

Anyway, I’m just shooting from the hip here…it could be anyone for any reason I guess…but Miles isn’t working for Ben or Widmore.

Miles can be working for Jacob. He is psychic and communicates with ghosts already. Jacob summoned him to the island. He heard the “Help Me!”

    Shooting back…

I think it’s possible vegarover but unlikely. I say this is because things are convoluted enough without introducing yet another player.

I agree with your assessment of Miles. He doesn’t strike me as the loyal type. He’s looking out for number one and is available to the highest bidder.

Let’s just say that Miles has his own personal reasons to accept Widmore’s mission -remember his file was on Abaddon’s desk when Naomi was making comments about the chosen crew- . Even if he can read minds or whatever he does, he keeps quiet unless it’s related to his goals. Could be something about ghosts/Jacob, I agree with wannabe.

I agree that Miles may be from a 3rd party but i think it is Darma people trying to see what the heck Ben has been doing all these years. Windmore either used to be a Darma higher up or got inf from one.

Was Miles in Walts grandma’s house during his flashback? I can’t recall what the woman looked like. Any thoughts?

I think Miles is probably just in it for himself - though I can’t discount the notion here that there is more to Miles’ agenda than is apparent so far.
