The island caused the plane to duplicate itself twice.

— AllAboutAlpert

I think it’s pretty given that Electromagnets caused the plane to crash, but remember the bunnies who were cloned in that orientation video? The ones with the 15 on them? I think that that’s exactly what happened to Ocean Flight 816. The Electromagnet tripled the amount of bunnies; there was the one that the Chinese guy was holding, the one on the bookshelf and then the one that Locke cooked and served to Ben in “The Other Woman.”

When the survivors flew over Desmond’s hatch and he didn’t hit the button, the island caused the plane to duplicate itself twice. One of those planes crashed and all the passengers died, one crashed on the island, and one is the one that the diving crew found at the bottom of the ocean.

Like the Desmond episode showed us, people who are involved with Electromagnets can time travel in their own life. It’s possible that the pilots of the three planes all traveled in their own lives and chose different destinies. One of them went back and probably chose not to get married, which is why the Helicopter pilot noticed that the pilot wasn’t wearing a ring; one of them was eaten by the smoke monster; and one of them crashed.

But then I was thinking. Who has the most to gain? Ben, right? So maybe one of the pilots on the planes was Ben, who traveled forward in time to be on the island so that he wouldn’t die in the crash. That’s how he knew so much about everyone on the plane, because he was the pilot.

I need to develop that part out more, but I’m pretty sure there were three Ocean Flight 816’s. Also the Hanso Foundation.

Great theory on what happened to Oceanic flight 816, but what about Oceanic flight 815??? Haha :P

Unfortunately, I dont agree with you here. We have no evidence that the plane or its passengers was duplicated three times but we have all kinds of evidence that the wreckage and bodies in the ocean is a hoax. I am going with simplest answer is most true on this one. Sorry.

thats one trippy theory lol :)

who knows, lost is one bizzare show, so maybe theyb all are both dead and alive at the same time becuase of the electomagnetism breach caused by desmond, though i believe the other crash is faked

you have no idea if that bunny had a number on it. ben was joking when he asked if it did. also there is no evidence of a 3rd plane….and ben isnt a pilot….haha sorry man -1

i would agree but when the helicopter pilot from the frigate saw the footage of flight 815 and all its dead passengers he spotted that its not really them, he knew the pilot very well and commented that that was not really him thus showing us that its stagged, nice theory tho.

Sorry, but the evidence suggests no such thing. But, this is Lost and you never know what they are going to throw at us next! Good job thinking outside the box though :)

But if it was staged then why did the Freighter Captain have the black box?

3rd bunny? Uhm … no. That was a joke. There were only 2 bunnies, 2 planes.

I have been thinking about the captain and the black box. I think that somehow Ben got his grubby little hands on the black box from the island and stashed it in the boat Michael and Walt left on. When he got picked up by the freighter the captain may have known that it would be in the little boat and got it that way. Or maybe Michael, being Ben’s man, brought it to him because Ben told him to.
