NOTE

Here is a correction…I made a mistake in this posting. I meant to write that the split occured when Desmond failed to enter the code when 815 originally crashed, not when he turned the failsafe key…thanks to cgk_81 for catching that for me.

original post:

Maybe I should think this through and double check that nobody has posted this theory yet but it is late and my motor is running so here it goes…

The wreckage found on the bottom of the ocean is actually that of flight 815. It is just as real as that which crashed on the island.

I think that (maybe) the Swan station system failure and subsequent energy release caused a split to take place in the space-time continuum, creating two different flight 815’s. You do remember the two identical bunnies from the Orchid orientation film, don’t you?

Two parallel events occuring in the same quantum reality . (The quantum reality theory states that all possible outcomes for an event MUST happen, just in different quantum realities. i.e. an infinate number of different parallel “universes” with each event causing a slightly different result)

Since we are only able to see our own quantum reality (universe) it is the only one that is valid. But suppose that the energy discharge that occured briefly “joined” two differnt quantum realities, allowing one event to cross over into another reality. One universe, two flight 815’s. The door to the other reality closed when the energy from the EM anomaly dissipated, but the two 815’s were already in one reality.

So which is the flight 815 that is supposed to be here and which one crossed over? The one that crashed on the island is the one that belongs to this reality because…

…the reason that Frank Lapidus noted that the pilot’s body in the wreckage shown on tv had no wedding ring is because HE has no wedding ring and HE is the pilot in the video…one from the other reality.

…the reason that Frank Lapidus noted that the pilot’s body in the wreckage shown on tv had no ring is because HE is the pilot in the video…one from the other reality”

Frank Lapidus was not the pilot of flight 815, when he saw the video of the pilot, he said he was supposed to be the pilot of the flight.

I am confused as to whether you mean activities at the Swan station (energy, purple skies) occurred days BEFORE the crash creating two scenarios (one where Frank does indeed fly the plane and one in which he does not) or AS the plane is crashing (one landing on the Island, and one at the bottom of the ocean)??

Can you elaborate on when you believe the split occurred?

The split occured when Desmond failed to enter the code when 815 originally crashed , bringing the other flight 815 into our reality. (forgive my lack of clarity, it is late :)

The 815 that crossed over into our reality was piloted by Lapidus. In his reality or “Universe” he was the pilot on 815, not the one we saw in episode #1. Different universe, slightly different details.

Just like the phenominon that created two identical but separate rabbits in the Orchid video, so there were two flight 815’s. both real, both genuine but from two differnt realities that briefly connected to form this paradox.

i used to believe a similar theory after the end of s3. i thought the reason jack was so scared and paniced about getting back to the island was because they were ‘catching’ up with a time where they are somehow dead. (like ur paralel universe thinking)

i don’t think this is so anymore. the plane in the ocean is a hoax? i can’t say that…i think they made that a little too evident,(they love giving us hints, and when i get alot of hints i start smelling red herrings)

frank being the pilot from the oceanic flight just dosn’t work chap. obviously something isn’t right…

things will get really crazy when the second ‘ben’ turns up. can’t wait :)

Thanks cgk_81 for helping me to clarify my thoughts. I revised the posting to make it a little more clear. And welcome to the site :)

Hey DocBrown…let’s hope I’m wrong because that means that a second Nickki and a second Paulo may show up too! eeeeeeek!!! :)

haaaaahaaa. i love that i’d forgotten about them buggers… its good to know that a fan base can influence a few actors out of jobs :)

i often think there are two of some people… not neccesarily on the island, but off and on.

richard, ben…walt maybe??? there could be two desmonds on the island…one alive and one dead, with penny in the cave from the first series?

and, of course, there are two Hurleys…just in the same body…whoa that was a low blow!

I’m sorry i’m maybe being a little slow here!

    1. We saw a pilot that was supposed to have been Seth Norris, they showed his picture on screen, but this was missing the wedding ring.

    2. We have seen the pilot that crashed on the Island. This was Seth Norris he was offed by smokie and he did have a wedding ring.

Are you saying that the pilot in Scenario 1 is Frank Lapidus?

mystarbuckhateslost’ i just read ur idea of how ‘lost’may end… very entertaineing chap and could be close… maybe des and penny instead of jack and kate? i see jacob being one of our losties ‘trapped’ in time.

there were two claire on the island too, but hurley ate one of them out of the story….

in the last episode i think hurley had turned up to eat sun’s baby… he’d obviously already got to jin’….poor poor jin

Lojozz …yes I am…he and the plane are from another quantum reality which flew through a “doorway” (no other real word to describe it) which opened when the island’s energy field went into overload when Desmond didn’t press the button the first time.

DocBrown….I have to change that ending for Lost. I think Hurley either eats the island, the freighter or Charles Widmore (who is surprisingly tasty with Dharma ranch composit dresing)

I am shocked that you think Hurley would eat Sun’s baby…because as you know, babies do not have a crunchy outer coating that Hurly likes.

Okay, maybe its time for me to get some sleep or to stop drinking all this cough syrup

i dont understand how you might think that farnk is the pilot on the “other flight 815”

How, if all other passengers and crew members are the same on both flights, would the pilot be different? surley the split would create the duplicate 815 exactly the same as the other,so the pilot of the dead 815 would be that seth guy, which was married, who worea wedding ring.

So the crash is faked in my opinion.

  15. Balone Mar 18, 2008 3:40 p.m. Comment: 15

Has to be faked. We can assume the bodies were brought up from the depths and if frank was one of them that would be hard to hide at this point. Plus I think if Frank knew that wasn’t the pilot cause of a ring i am sure he would of known if it was himself.

  16. MyStarbuckHatesLost Mar 19, 2008 2:48 a.m. Comment: 16

I agree that it is probably faked. But the theory of quantum realities allow for ALL possible outcomes for anything that happens. For example, I play the lottery in this reality and use random numbers and I don’t win. In another quantum reality, I play the same numbers and I do win. Though I hate the term “parallel universe” because it is so science fictiony, it is aptly descriptive of what I am trying to convey. A momentary connecting of two separate relities. In the infinate number of other quantum realities, Frank Lapidus could have been the pilot…or I could have been, or Geroge W. Bush, or your weird uncle that nobody in the family talks about could have been.
