recoverable remains raised mound
— Austin108
Been reading a bunch on Jin and folks reasons for him being alive or dead and many (if not all) have missed one piece of quick subtle evidence may support the fact that he’s dead. If you notice in a quick shot of the grave as Sun approaches it, you see that there is a raised mound on the right. Ever since episode 404 I have been wondering about the 8 survivors, 2 die leaving the O6. Generally, a rescue would involve the transport of all recoverable remains. Going along with this, we get 2 dead bodies going back to civilization with the O6. Also, Hurley says to Sun, “I guess we should, like, go see him”. Him, not his grave or any symbolic location, but his actual resting place.
Writing this brings something new to mind thats probably been discussed ad nausium, but hell, lets go over it again. Jack says 8 survived the crash and implies that 2 die soon after… 6 living adults - the Oceanic 6. I’m starting to believe that Micheal is in fact the 6th and Aaron doesn’t count. I’m also starting to believe that Claire in fact lives but for some reason must give up Aaron to Kate… this belief stems from way back in Season 1 “Raised by Another” According to Lost cannon, certain things are holy and immutable- Claire must raise the child for instance, so she needs to remain alive so that eventually Aaron can return to her.
The general consensus right now is that Jin is 1 of the dead bodies and all evidence points to Claire being the other. I wouldn’t put it past the Lost writers to lead us by the nose to this conclusion… in fact its totally possible that any of the already dead original 48 (midsection) survivors remains can be used as the 2 dead from the fake 8 survivors. Boon for instance, lol.
Its important to realize that A. in Lost, nothing is what it seems initially; B. once you start reading the subtext, you’re as apt to misinterpret it and go down the wrong path as the right one, and C. the real plot of the series has been set from the begining- there’s as much good info in Season 1 as 4, even if we couldn’t understand it then… or even now.

Purely the point that Hurley said they should go and see “him” was a telling one for me. I don’t want Jin to be dead but, well, I do think he is. +1
ditto! +1
Good catch on the mound of dirt near Jin’s tombstone. I’ll have to watch it again to see.
You bring up another good point about the bodies being recovered…it would be hard for the Oceanic Six to claim that 2 people died after the crash, but have no way to prove it.
Jin dying would continue the tradition of Lost actors who get DUI’s getting killed off on the show.
