Back in an episode whos time frame I forget (i’m on nightshifts and my brain is mashed potatoe right now) Ben had a live video feed to Richard at the playground. So we know the technology exists. No-one actually said he was dead.
I’m basing this on an assumption that only certain individuals could leave the island, for reasons currently unknown, and Jin and Claire couldn’t leave for some reason….but I dont think they are dead.
So yeah, a quickie for your perusal…..it will be interesting to see what you all think of this….right now it makes perfect sense to me but of course it is just a theory.

In a strange way that would make the whole speech by Sun something understandable. As it was, it would seem strange that if Jin was dead then why did she not thank Jin for his sacrifice in saving them, or express sorrow and anguish that she was unable to prevent his death.

Sorry guys, it seems the intro section of my post was lost.
Basically I think that Jin is alive and on the island, and the grave contains a hidden camera linked up by a live feed to the island. Sun went to see Jin to show him the baby, and knew he could see them both. She just seemed to be talking to him. This could explain a lot I think.
This does seem like a good idea except for the fact that The Flame got blown up and that is where Ben showed Juliet the feed to her sister and nephew. So unless there is another place like the flame somewhere I don’t know how they could do that. I do think that Jin is alive though and living on the island.
Ooohhhhh, thanks for the clarification, jax. Well that certainly would be interesting but I dont buy it for some reason. I think that Sun went to the grave because Jin is still alive but they want everyone to think he is dead. She went there with Hurley to make it seem like she is grieving over his death. I am sure she is grieving and that she does “miss him” but I think he is still alive and on the island and of course at some point there will be a reunion and he will get to see his baby. I think they are just covering all their steps and trying really hard to keep up the illusion that Jin is really dead so people like Michael Abbadon and whoever he works for dont go searching for them.
Or something like that, haha!!

Rumor has it, the others “temple” where they are all chilling has a ton of communication equipment. I think i read that on spoilersfix.com, but don’t remember. But, this would certainly could make “grave cam” possible. maybe that’s one of the reason Sun leaves, cuz she knows she can at least still communicate TO jin.

I just watched the scene again and it does make more sense if you watch it and assume that she is talking to Jin who is able to hear her.
This is quite interesting. As for the Flame being destroyed I would point out that all the fancy coimmunication equipment had been removed by the time Locke and the gang turned up.

The more I think about it the more sense it makes, and at the beginning of the scene she kind of holds the baby towards the gravestone as if showing her to him?

A couple of things: I don’t think Sun wouldn’t have said much about Jin being dead because at this point I am sure she would have visited the grave several times and had a memorial service. If it is Ben that is watching with the grave-cam why would he need the flame station? He is off the island too, remember? I think perhaps it is Widmore and co. that is watching and that is why they are putting on the show—Ben already knows that Jin is alive so they wouldn’t need to put on a show for him. Perhaps even Sun’s father is watching too, even a better reason to pretend that Jin is dead. Good ideas…+1
