What if the timeline, in order to correct itself, explains the dissappearance of a person with death?

— lostfish

All these losties turning up dead when we know them to be alive… This latest episode featuring Jin’s death has got me thinking.. What if Jin did not actually “die” while getting off the island but instead accidently travelled too far back in time to the year 2000? When ever anyone has ever spoken of leaving the island, (Daniel to the heli pilot, and Ben to Michael), they were always very specific about following coordinates exactly. It seems very plausible to me that the “flashback” of Jin in 2000, could have actually been an alternate timeline occuring simultaneously with Sun’s “flashforeward” in 2004.

So what happens to a person in the current timeline when they cross into another? What if the timeline, in order to correct itself, explains the dissappearance of a person with death? This would also serve to explain the wreckage of 815 at the bottom of the ocean and all of the mysterious bodies. The prospect of being able to manipulate time in such a way could be catastrophic! This is why Ben is fighting so hard to keep the island a secret and out of the wrong hands.

I am dead curious as to who you mean by this. I can not think of any Lostie that meets this description. Please can you give an example.

lostfish, welcome to the site. The episode clearly showed a flashback of Jin in the year 2000. We have no proof of any time/mind traveling going on, until we see what happened during the rescue.

I thought the same thing you did. It could also explain why Kate took Aaron. Maybe Claire went too far back. She may be in high school and Aaron may not exist yet. She may be given a second chance to not get her mom killed in a car wreck. It’s also strange that Jin repented of being cold and remote, then ended up back at the beginning of his marriage, as if he was given a second chance.
