The “sickness” suffered by Rousseau’s crew is the same “sickness” suffered by Desmond and Minkowski.
It eventually killed all of them including her lover, Robert. She was spared because she was pregnant and kept from being exposed to the radiation (because of her pregnancy) that the rest of the crew were exposed to. Not sure how or why they were exposed-any ideas??

Kitter: I would be inclined to agree with your statements. Good observation! +1
i’ve already posted such a theorie. but i also believe that
Just a question, Why would the pregnancy shield her from radiation? Did I miss something?
kitter, welcome to the site and I agree with your theory. I think her team was an experimental team and was probably dealing with radiation (like Daniel). Because of her pregnancy, she probably was forced to stay away from the experiments, thus saving her from the sickness.
+1 for your first theory
i guess everyone here forgot when Rousseau said she killed her crew cause they were sick. yes i do agree with you when she said they were sick it was referring to the “side effects” of coming to the island but dont forget she killed them.
From the LOSTpedia:
“But then she says the sickness came. She says the sickness took them one after the other. She eventually killed Robert who she claimed was sick by first removing the firing pin from his gun and engaging him in a confrontation where she shot him dead.
Rousseau explained her motivations for killing the other members of the team as follows: “I had no choice. They were already lost. What would have happened if we were rescued? I couldn’t let that happen. I won’t.” . (end quote) ”
I didnt forget that she killed them. ….
Desmond went pretty wild for a while there, didn’t know anyone and panicked. Imagine a whole crew going bonkers like that, and no one else understanding why. Danielle likely was afraid for her safety.
As for how Danielle might have been protected, I have one idea that may or may not be any good. Her ship was a research vessel, but researching what? There might have been electromagnetic research on the vessel itself, contained within a shielded room, which the others entered but not Danielle. They might have been looking for the island all along.
Good observations! I also read a similar theory on EW.com “minkowski GOT ”THE sickness” ” http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20182393_3,00.html
