I keep reding and hearing people say that Benjamin is a member of the Oceanic-6 but that’s not likely
Here’s just a quickie… Benjamin is not a member of the Oceanic-6, a.k.a. those who the press reported as survivors of the crash of Oceanic flight 815.
The confirmed members of the Oceanic-6 so far are: Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley and Aaron (though it is not known if Aaron is officially considered to part of the Oceanic-6 or if there are instead two other adults in that grouping)
If Ben were part of that group, he would have to explain how he came to be on the island. Even with his multiple identities, it would be hard to come up with a convincing story of how he came to be there. (He could claim to be Henry Gale but Jenny Gale might have a problem believing that her husband is now a skinny, short, bug-eyed white guy) He could not be a part of the Oceanic flight because he would not be on the passenger manifest and even if he took the identity of one of the passengers, it would have to be a passenger that he looked like and that had no family, friends or coworkers that could reveal him to be an imposter. Even on “Mystery Island,” the odds of all of those variables coming into play at the same time are remote at best.
The only way that he could be seen as a part of the Oceanic-6 would be if someone had the power to alter Oceanic Airlines’ flight manifest records to show that whatever identity Ben assumed was actually on the plane. And even this probably wouldn’t work either because the press and the NTSB would have published the listing of passenger names shortly after 815 went down (pending notification of the next of kin, of course.) So that means that whoever had the power to change Oceanic’s records could also alter the records of a U.S. Government agency…OR go back in time and alter the manifest before the flight so that the news reports and government data would show Ben was on the plane! (Hey, I may be on to something there…)
Who then are the other members of the Oceanic-6 if not Ben (and Aaron?) well my first guess (and probably not my last) would be Jin and Sun…or maybe the smoke monster and a polar bear!
Ain’t guessing fun?

I kind of took it as given that he wasnt one of the 6 - we dont know that he got off the island with the other survivors (infact I find it unlikely) but we do know he can leave when he wants. I reckon he just followed them, found Sayid and blackmailed him into doing his dirty work.
Or he gets taken onto the freighter and escapes from there with the help of his man.
But yep, guessing sure is fun :)
Of course he’s not a member of the Oceanic Six. That’s a classification for publicity purposes. And Ben has a million reasons to hide in the shadows.
Brilliant deduction! Ben is not one of the six, because he wasn’t on Flight #815. You know, the “Oceanic plane” that crashed!
Are you being trollish or silly???
