Did anyone else find it interesting that these numbers add up, just like the hatch numbers???

Lets talk about what we know.
The hatch numbers are 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. These numbers add up to 108.
The numbers 2004 Daniel gave Desmond to give to 1996 Daniel were 2.342, and to set the machine at 11. The numbers 2, 3, 4, and 2 add up to 11.
Did anyone else find it interesting that these numbers add up, just like the hatch numbers???
The numbers 2,3,4,2 @ 11 was enough to send a rat forward 1 hour into the future. Could it be that the numbers 4,8,15,16,23,42 @ 108 are enough to send a person back 8 years, like it did to Desmond? When you think about the small amount of radiation that the rat was exposed to compared to the huge amount that Desmond was exposed to, you have to believe the effects would be magnatized by that much. Not to mention the vault numbers are simply greater than the other numbers (108 Hertz vs. 11 Hertz).
Please please please expand on this theory everyone. I think I am on to something here. This is what i think, but feel free to tell me your thoughts.
I believe the explosion of the hatch had the same effect on Desmond that Daniels machine had on the rat. Maybe by pressing the button the effect was contained. And by Desmond activating the fail safe key, it reversed the effect, which is why he went back in time, as opposed to the rat who went ahead in time.

I believe you are on to something good here. It is very interesting indeed that the number series match up to the last numbers.
Very interesting, +1. I think your theory would be stronger if you found a correlation between the two sets of numbers, so work on it. =)

Thank you. I am working on expanding the theory now. I just wanted to get the basics of it out there for everybody. I am trying to expand it to include specific details as we speak.
I’ve always regarded numerology as something of a bore, but in this case, maybe because there’s some science thrown in, I’ll make an exception.

i saw the 23 and the 42 immediately. but i couldn’t make sense of the 11. good lookin’. and the whole 1 hour vs 8 years is brilliant. that’s a big fat +1.
Thank you all. Is anyone out here that knows something about Hertz (the device was @ 11 Hertz)? It is science stuff that I just do not get. Here is the wikipedia link. Between the vault numbers and Daniels rat experiment numbers I think we can put this all together.

Who knows where the additional two parameters / variables came from? First we have 4 settings plus a frequency and now 6 numbers plus a frequency?

Oceanic, you don’t find anything interesting about the fact that the numbers 2,3,4,2 add up to 11 (2.342 set at 11 Hertz) and the numbers 4,8,15,16,23,42 add up to 108 (possibly 108 Hertz). There is a connection here. I guarantee it. You are discrediting my theory because one has 4 numbers and the other has 6 numbers? That, actually, is nonsense.
Most importantly, I want to say that you have a cool car.
Watching the episode, Daniel finds the number 2.342 in his diary. It is the result of a calculation he has made in the past. The entry in his journal shows a graph depicting real time and real space. I can’t really make any sense of it, but I am sure someone better at physics would.
I might be wrong but isn’t 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 the numbers that need to be put into the machine every 108 minutes to reset it? so what does the 108 Hertz have to do with anything? I agree that all the numbers are interelated, eg. (oceanic flight) 815 is also part of the sequence of 6 numbers ^ as is 2.342…
I didn’t even notice this. I noticed 2, 3, 4, 2 were 23 and 42 from the equation, but not how they added up to 11.
Does it mean something in correlation with the 4 8 15 16 23 42 and 108? Probably not. But it’s one of those cool show qualities, linking something with something else, and I’m happy you pointed it out.
Muchty, I was just saying that the numbers at 2,3,4,2 add up to 11, and Daniels machine was oscilating at 11 Hertz. These numbers (one way or another) sent a rat forward 1 hour. Maybe the vault is acting the same way. The numbers 4,8,15,16,23,42 add up to 108. Maybe each time you input those numbers and press that button the electromagentic energy is being set at 108 Hertz. Then when the key was turned all the energy was released on Desmond, which is why he behaved similar (but somehow opposite) to the rats reaction.
You have made some really good observations, and argurments for your theory, +1 for sure. The only thing that keeps me thinking that the numbers have a larger meaning than just numbers that add up to 108Hz and send someone back 8 years, is the fact of how Hurley came to learn these numbers, then played them in the lottery and had all those horrible events take place. Much more than strange coincidence.

it wont let me to give you +1. As everyone agree you are most like onto something here. Very fresh . there were so many theories about numbers :coordiantes for island location..etc But you could be right ,maybe it is a frequency to keep the island or the portal to the entrance in corect time . Maybe since they have stoped entering the numbers ,since Swan imploded,island is vulnearble now to the side efects and many other anomalies couse by electromagnetisam and radiation. But def. one of the best theories in long time.Bravo!

good eye. that’s amazing. i wish i caught onto things like that. and the people that theorize about all the physics related stuff are amazing too. it blows my mind to read all this stuff. so much information and things to know out there. really expands your mind.
i can’t wait until they show how the scenario will play out in the end for the numbers in the story.
Just some math. It doesn’y show anything to me but maybe someone else can pull something from it.
2.342 @ 11 hz = 1 hour. The variable is 25.762 Y @ 108 hz = 8 years (or 70080 hours). The variable is 16854.07
