Well I think he’s ended up there because he experienced side effects when coming off the island – The only reason he could have survived would be that he had a ‘constant’ – that is the numbers. He could have been aware of the numbers before going to the island as they are actual co-ordinates (remember that he worked in the US Navy as well) and when he reached the island they are used in the Swan station – where he could have worked.
It also opens the possibility that the numbers could be Hurleys ‘constant’
I agree that may be what is going on with Leonard but why would Hurley need a constant??
All of them have been exposed to electromagnetic energy (the purple light when the hatch exploded) - of course it differs with eevery person but Hurley is the most likeliest person to need a constant given his past - then again I’m just assuming things!
