Lost is exactly as the tile say. It’s about being “Lost” LostMysteryIsland

I have only been using this site for about 4 months now but have read many posts both long and short as well as clever and terrible. I now believe that many of the following theories are a a way of showing people that watch lost that there are as the Title says LOSt in our world today.
I have read theories on how Backgammon(and even posted one this), Chess and Risk expalin things(or speculate depending on how you see it) in Lost like the the battle between widmore and Ben Linus, theories on the Dharma stations that relate it to the myths of greek god appolo (from the Apollo chocolate bars Hurley found in season 2) and the monster of the underworld cerebrus (like the smoke monster).
i have read that Dharma is closely related to hinduism as an Indian spiritual term meaning “one’s rightous duty, and is present as the central that is explained as the higher truth or ultimate reality of the universe, (which i personally shows we are looking at dharma all wrong but thats a nother matter),
theories on time that relate it to Einsteins gravitaional time dialation theory (The theory states that gravity is a force that slows the passage of time from a certain vantage point. In a recent experiment, actually performed in space, an atomic clock aboard a space shuttle ticked faster than the an atomic clock on the ground because it moved further away from Earth’s gravitational field. Thus the clock on Earth ticked slower from the perspective of those on the shuttle.) relating to Hanso’s talk of the casimir effect,
the apparent similarities between Locke and a saviour figure or Aaron and Jesus, a theory on Novikov’s self consistency theory saying that no matter what you cant change the future if you can go back to the past (like how Desmond can’t prevent Charlies death only delay it, or how when Michael tried to shot himself the gun wouldnt fire), and a theory relating John Steinbecks East of Eden which relates and explains the relatioship btween Sawyer, Jack and Kate among other things ,
Tesla’s idea to photo thoughts (a theory about Cerebrus), the similar names from Lost charachters to famous philosophers among many other interesting and informative theories.
Now on to my theory. I believe that rather than lost being explained by one overall theme you have to look at it as a number of different themes being explained by many different themes and poular media in our culture today. Lost is about being “lost” in a world with infinte theories and explanations for life and things after. Many different things have been added to make lost a pool of beliefs mixed up to help strees the overall themes of Science versus Faith (the main theme stressed in so many episodes) and Free Will vs. Determinism. This is shown by the melding of many cultures and theories together. I believe that you cant look at Lost as based on one thing in our world but based on many things (but only parts of those things taken) because it is to complicated for this.
Once again the name of the show Lost is quite literal to its meaning. It is the only thing the viewers of lost can take as it is. the people on lost and the people of lost are quite literally lost in the world they live in and they need to find there way to a unlost place. Lost is about showing everyone that the world is a place filled with many theories but in the end you have to choose one for yourself or you are as the title of the show say LOST!

Actually time dilation has really nothing to do with gravity… it’s part of his special relativity theory, where dilation occurs as one approaches the speed of light. this dilation can affect time, mass and length. The reason why the atomic clocks showed different times has nothing to do with earth’s gravitational field (which is still extremely strong for something orbiting it, and falling into it is only averted by the acceleration of the orbit). The clocks ticked differently because one of them was traveling much faster, and was somewhat closer to approaching the speed of light. This resulted in one clock experiencing time “faster” relative to the other clock.
