Travelling in space can be as simple as taking a step to the right….appearing to disapper and then reappear one step to the right. It doesnt have to mean travellinig in outer space or anything. So okay, you have and island that can move around the globe, making it hard to find.
So if you had a time machine (or a machine that could travel in SPACE and time) and you were taking part in a battle for said time machine which happened to encompase or comprise of an island, and you were losing or had lost that battle or lost people you didnt want to lose, how would you fix it? Ben mentioned breaking or changing the rules to Widmore. What if you lost key people but to just go back in time and ‘make it never happen’ was against the rules? How do you get people onto the island to help you? Well, if I knew a plane was going to crash into the ocean and everyone was going to die (because it had happened, that would explain the plain on the ocean floor), and I had an island that I could move to that exact spot and go back in time to before it crashed, not only would I do that but also manipulate and orchestrate who got on that plane…..

I don’t understand what you’re getting at. If Ben wanted to recruit people why would he do it via a plane crash. That seems a tad risky, how was he to know who would survive? Why not just do it like he did with Juliet?
Who said Ben was the one recruiting them?
There’s a hint at manipulating Losties pasts in the latest John Locke flashbacks. So I think this could be the case.
no. traveling in space is identical to traveling in time.
No travelling in time is going forwards or backwards. Travelling in space is moving the object from it’s location. Look at The Time Machine. He only travels in time. His machine never moves from it’s original location.
