Remember Libby, Ana Lucia, and Mr. Eko?
All 3 characters were killed off, after getting D.U.I.s off set…..”Flashforward” to October 2007……Daniel Dae Kim, arrested for…..You guessed it…….D.U.I. It would appear the heads of LOST production frown on D.U.I.s. I think Daniel Dae Kim’s contract was not re-newed… Sucks, cuz I love Jin, but I don’t think he’ll be back….

So if Matthew Fox got a DUI they would kill Jack off too? What about Michael Emerson? If he got a DUI, then they must kill Ben off, right? That is basically what your post is saying.
I think certain characters may be an exception to the rule….Maybe. It just seems like a little bit more than a coincidence, don’t you think?
Maybe. But, I think Daniel Dae Kim got an offer to do another show and he took it. I think that is the main reason they “killed him off”, even though I think we haven’t seen the last of Jin. They are obviously leaving open the possibility that he is still alive, but also that he could be dead.
I’ve been fighting this too, because I like Jin, and I don’t think his story is over yet. But then… I remembered something I heard at the beginning of season 4. One poster on this site was bound and determined to “spoil” the identity of the O6. He was absolutely positive that the O6 consisted of Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and JIN! Yes, Jin, not Aaron, but Jin. When the true identity of the O6 was released (mid season) and it included Aaron, not Jin, my first thought was, “Good, I’m glad the “spoiler” was not 100% correct.” Fast forward to the season end finale: Jin’s on the freighter, and Boom! Okay, so …….what if the “spoiler” was correct, and that Jin, who was originally slated to be one of the O6, was replaced by Aaron, after he received a DUI?
Although, I also agree with Irocz; are the producers willing to kill everyone off, just to make a point?
IF Jin is dead, it has nothing to do with the D.U.I. IMO. They have certainly left the door open a crack that he is possibly alive with all the alternate theories being posted. The main thing to take from this is if you are ever in Hawaii, dont drink and drive.
They did bring Libby back briefly too,so maybe they forgive her now.
Read my latest theory i said the exact same thing not long ago and the writers have specifically stated that ANY character will get killed off if DUI, i just think people on here need a theory for everything and can’t except facts which the writers have stated time and time again.
Everyone needs to shut up about damn DUI thing, so what the dude messed up. You dont change the entire format of how you’re writing something because of an actor being arrested. All the other actors with duis deaths were essential the the plot moving forward. We are all really into taking this show very seriously but we have to remember it is still a TV SHOW and DUI arrests arent that damn important to writers, producers and especially networks in Hollywood. They want ratings and wether Jin is dead or not. Either way ABC is getting what they want. ratings
Ask yourself this…
What would be the sense of killing off some of our favorite characters just to kill them off? Since the beginning of the show JIn has developed to be a great character. If you really think about it he has gone through a similar transformation to Sawyer. Plus we never got confirmation that he is definitely dead. Every other character that died: Boone, Shannon, Ana-Lucia, Libby, Eko, Charlie, Tom, Michael, Ethan…..we know that they’re dead because we saw them die. For all we know Jin was blown off the freighter. And besides Faraday is still out there on the raft. I think he will find and rescue him.
Okay thank you MrBluhm!!! I 100% agree… as much as I love Jin we need to accept that he is dead. GET OVER IT!
If we see Faraday on the island next season, then why could we not see Jin? Neither one were actually on the island when it was moved. I think we will see Faraday early on, but we will not see Jin until later.
The Looking Glass was a quarter mile off shore and I am sure it was moved with the island. Why wouldn’t Fisherman Jin not be able to swim a few of miles. But then again why didn’t he jump off the boat and Frank (being such a great pilot) fly down and pick him up?
Jin’s death also makes Michael’s sacrifice useless (and his telling Jin to go), unless the writers are trying to impose a sense of tragedy and futility to the whole thing.
Someone mentioned a while back that the season has ended like the end of season 1, with Jin having been blown off a ship into the water!
I’m simply stating that the writers and producers themselves have actually said that DUIs and the likes will not be tolerated and the characters will not continue to be on the show if these happen. It was stated on a podcast after Michelle Rodriguez got her DUI, and and I just beleive that it has been written into the actors contract or something. Jin, while a loveable character, was one of the least relevent to the show, to be honest. It’s just a thought, we’ll have to wait and see.
In an interview with Darlton they stated that Eko and Ana Lucia only wanted to be on the show for a short while and that is what their contracts said so thats why they were killed
I suppose the writers and producers of the show ride onto the set everyday on a high horse and summarily smite anyone they believe has been involved in what they consider immoral behavior? I doubt it. I don’t think anyone was kicked off the show because of a DUI and if they producers said they did then they were lying or just messing with people. You know what would be funny? If none of them ever actually got a real DUI and it was all made up. But true or not, I doubt it really has any influence on the show.

Jin is alive? I am open to it, but Michael has to be gone, right? If Jin Isn’t dead who rescues him? Daniel is my guess, but then who rescues them? Viscious circle isn’t it. Lost strikes again.
