but I then noticed something very strange, when Sayid leans forward to tell Hurley they are being watched, he doesn’t aim the comment at Hurley, he does this as an aside to someone else

In the Finale episode on Sunday, someone posted a comment on the chess piece (Rook) that Hurley used to Check Mate Mr Eko who we could not see! At the end of the shot the rook is one square different to the previous shot, comment was made about continuity and I am sure we agree that the show makers don’t do bad continuity unless there is a reason?
This post made me re-watch the scene over and over gain (thank God for Sky+) but I then noticed something very strange, when Sayid leans forward to tell Hurley they are being watched, he doesn’t aim the comment at Hurley, he does this as an aside to someone else, it is a very definite aside not just casual, but very deliberate. I believe that Sayid could also see Mr. Eko hence the comment directed at him.
Okay not a theory as my tile suggested, but feel free to shred it to bits.

I was thinking about this too but haven’t re-watched it yet. To me the question is whether it’s significant that WE don’t see Eko, since previously we’d seen Charlie’s ghost/likeness talking to Hurley. At first I thought that maybe this means that Hurley really is insane and saw Eko on his own without Jacob/this island’s influence. But, assuming your observations about the chess piece & Sayid’s comment are accurate, I’m willing to believe that Eko’s ghost/likeness were really visible to both of them & we just didn’t see him for dramatic effect.

hey as far as bad continuity is concerned when kate gave aaron to sun to get to the boat he was wearing a light blue towel or blanket but when sun got him to the boat he was wearing a very dark blue one so i think could just be a mistake with bad continuity
