Ive seen all seasons on tv, but havn’t seen them for a while, so ill come back all knownledged up and maybe make an actual theory rather then a question.

Hey guys, my first time making a theory, well, more of a question then a theory, but it may offer a hint of the Fate vs Free Will fight.
We all know that Locke was crippled and robbed from (his kidney from his father), deprived of his most glorious wants, but in season 4, when locke was being “interveiwed” by that ‘special school’ guy, he picked up the knife, which shows that Locke may be less influenced by fate, and more by free will.
Jack, seems to be less influenced by free will, and doesnt really seem to notice much about fate.
My question, is who do you think has more power on the island, Jack of Locke. I personally think locke does because he was taught by his father how to track and hunt, and seems to know a lot more about the island then Jack. And the time when Jack was seeing a man, vanishing before his eyes, and started chasing him in season 1, Locke found him, and told him “You’re the leader, people need you”, but later on, it appears that Locke becomes in charge.

It’s possible. I’m not sure if I’m disagreeing with you, but I do always like to look at things from the fate vs. free will angle. I do think that Jack exercises more free will though. Locke did pick the knife out and was not chosen by that guy(who shared my name on The Tick), but he ended up on the island anyway. Then his legs worked. Suddenly he could do all of the things he had read about. I kindof think Locke’s knowledge has translated into action once he got to the island, but he wouldn’t have been able to do those things off of the island even if he did have his legs. The reason Jack exercises more free will to me is that the island seems to really want him and several others and Jack continues to run away. Think of Jonah in The Bible. God tells him to do something and he runs away. I just think that instead of a Giant Fish swallowing him; a giant island has a hold of Jack and refuses to let him go without destroying his life in some way. So, while Locke may seem to have more power, I think that is because he is one of the only people who is willing to embrace the island and all that it offers. Both of them exercise their free will, but I think resisting the island to go back to a terrible life takes more effort. Good theory though.
