LOSTCONNECTION

While I haven’t posted here in nearly as year, I have a few points about Season 4.

First: It’s not clear whether or not Widmore is as evil as Ben claims he is - he could just be a particularly ruthless hero trying to wrest the Island from Ben’s control.

Second: Is Jin really dead? It seems kind of obvious to show us his grave a few episodes BEFORE we see him die… and we’ve seen him wash up on shore before and live after a boat he was on exploded. He may actually be alive. Then again, they have no problem axing main characters on this show.

Third: Penny Des and Ben - Ben seems certain he will kill Penny, but then again, Ben was not particularly aware of Desmond - and Des might be able to change things, even certain-to-occur things due to his nature as a time-traveler of sorts. This trait makes it very possible for Desmond to ruin Ben’s entire plan - and he has every reason to stop him.

Fourth: A freezing cold room with huge machines that need to be pushed is a perfect place for polar bears - hence the one Charlotte found in Tunisia (where Ben appears in the future part of “The Shape of Things to Come”). ‘Nuff said.

Fifth: Miles thinks Charlotte has been there before, and I bet that’s because someone dead on the Island told him so. How long has she been gone, both in her personal timeline and in the Island’s? Furthermore, if it is the place where she was born, what does that tell the audience about her importance?

Sixth: The Black Rock probably got on a mountaintop when the Island appeared underneath it after a move. To date, this is the clearest explanation for it’s location that doesn’t involve a freakish amount of luck (beyond having a mystical Island appear underneath you, versus having a hurricane or maelstrom of some sort transport a ship full of dynamite intact to the top of a mountain.

Seventh: Claire is probably dead. A rocket blew up her house, and now she’s “with him” (her dead father), chilling at Jacob’s cabin. Again, ‘nuff said.

Eighth: Lastly, the rules. Whatever they are, Ben (despite being self-exiled, according to him) is still following them. In Valis, (the book Locke brings /Ben to read while he is captive in “Eggtown”) the hero is a king named Prospero, who is cast into exile, but eventually regains the throne. I’m saying this is a hint by the producers that Ben’s return to power is coming. Him following the rules is a signt hat he is aware of the possibility and probably has the intent to return to his former position - otherwise he wouldn’t care about the rules, now would he?

Check this for abit of fun, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noah’s_Island - so many parallels!

The Sunda area where the Black Rock was last sighted may also be last known location of the Island — given Widmore staging the plane crash there, and the Oceanic 6’s matching cover story, which allowed Widmore to leave them alone, even though Abaddon visited Hurley to see if there were anymore survivors.

The only problem is that the Island was moved by Dharma, given the fact that the polar bear was sent to Tunisia like Ben (and if the electromagnetic axial displacement theory is true, would suggest the origin point on the opposite side of the world to be the same). That would seem to suggest that during the Dharma period, the island was at its most recent location in the South Pacific (confirmed by the air drops).

As such Widmore does know about the South Pacific location, even if he decided to stage the crash at the older location. There might be a higher authority involved then.

I don’t think that Widmore would put the faked plane where he thought the Island would actually be - The Sunda trench is close enough to the actual location of Oceanic 815’s disappearance to be believable to the public.

If he put the plane somewhere he thought the Island could be, someone else might find it, and Widmore has done a ton of work to try and prevent other people from finding out about the Island - like loading the freighter with C4 to sink it.

I’m willing to bet that the Black Rock was found near Africa - it was a slave trading ship, after all. It’s most likely the same “access point” to the Island that Yemi’s plane crashed through.

I agree with all of your points but I wonder about number 4. Since the access hole to get to the cold room was sealed off by Dharma, that suggests they never used the wheel to move the island. I don’t think Dharma would build their teleportation/time travel machine sealing off access to the room completely if they ever planned on accessing the cold room. So then what did Edgar Haliwax use the parka for and what were the polar bears for if they couldn’t access the room? Unless there is another access opening but that somehow seems unlikely. Since Ben trashed the machine, does this suggest that no one can now time travel/teleport off the island?

actually a very weird post. you might have read my mind. i actually had every single thought going through my head at some point or another. all except the last one. but heres my little spin on a few of them

point 1: although its true it is hard to tell at this point. remember back to season 2 when ben assured micheal that “they are the good guys”

point 2: it would be terrible writing if it were true. i find it hard to believe jin is dead after micheal had a little heart to heart with him. Saying hes going to be a father and told him to leave, and even though he leaves he still dies? i dont buy it. farraday will save him in the zodiac!

point 3: it is weird really that desmond and ben have actually had almost no interaction. but since ben knows everything im sure that hes aware of desmonds presence and position with widmore. which makes me further believe he will bring desmond back to the island. and who will come along with desmond?…….penny as leverage for widmore.

point 4: the polar bear found in tunisia was around the same place ben ended up. the polar bears turned the wheel and got telepoted. and if the island has been moved before, it definitely fits in with the black rock being sprung up on.

point 5: so charlotte has been to the island. i think it might have to do with ben’s little girlfriend being her mother (i dont remeber her name). we have a feeling miles is actually working for ben. lapidus was supposed to pilot 815. so what is farraday’s story? all the other freighties have a connection with the island.

point 6: this is one of my biggest theories. but i think it goes beyond just the black rock. i think it might have to do with the four toed statue. i would even go as far as to say that it is part of the reason that 815 crashed. explain why none of the survivors had head trauma like desmond and minkowski.

point 7: its been alluded to a lot. being with cristian who is also dead. and with miles who had a peculiar interest in her after her house blew up.
