” Yowee, the Spirit of Death ”

DAVE

This is not a theory, just an observation

I have been reading about Aboriginal Dreamtime. Australia’s indigenous people may be the oldest living culture on Earth. They believe in two forms of time. Two parallel streams of activity. One is the daily objective activity. The other is an infinite spiritual cycle called “The Dreamtime” more real than reality itself. Whatever happens in dreamtime establishes the values symbols and laws of Aboriginal society. Some people with unusual spiritual powers have contact with the dreamtime. The Aboriginals have their own version of Genisis and in it the first murder was comitted by ” The Black Smoke Monster” called Yowee the Spirit of Death. This is a myth that relates to Uluru or Ayers Rock. Uluru is a magnetic mound and is on a major planetary grid piont. It is sometimes called the island mountain. There are many caves here and it is believed that taking rocks from the caves can cause bad luck. On June 1, 2004 Uluru turned violet. The healer Rose went to see was ” Isaac of Uluru” in the bible Isaac is the father of Jacob. I think there are alot of things here that relate to Lost. I don’t really have a theory just thought it was interesting. I hope this isn’t old news.

aboriginal dreamtime stories are quite amazing, just out of curiosity, have you read turrimulli at all? that scared the absolute bejesus out of my when i was a kid.

i’ve never heard of uluru turning violet though, that sounds kinda weird… do you have a link to any stories about this at all? i don’t know how that’d work, seeing as it’s a big grey rock covered in red sand.

I looked on Lostpedia for information on Isaac and it linked me to wikipedia and I went through about 20 links. I can’t find the smoke monster reference but I’m sure I read because I wrote it down, but maybe I was dreaming.

i know it changes colours at sunrise & sunset (i’ve got a wicked photo of uluru from a central australia camp we did at school, right at sunset, looks blood red) but i’ve never seen it violet… that would be sweet.

I was just trying to relate the sky turning violet on the island to Uluru turning violet. The rocks Locke found in the caves to it being back luck to take rocks from the uluru caves, yowee and smokey, the magnetic properties of both places, they also have a legend of the sleepy lizard woman, maybe this is Juliette [joke] The black smoke can change form and become what ever it wants to be as well make tree grows and control the weather. People in dreamtime sometimes are positive they are in one location when the are actually somewhere completely different.

Hi Dave, thanks for that post it was very interesting and informative. I like the dream thing in Lost ! Plus one :) So, I was wondering Dave, if you had any thoughts on this since you’re into the dream thing! : remember when Locke dreams of Horace and works out how to get the map to the cabin? I just found it weird that Ben told him “I used to have dreams” On the surface it would seem that Ben is simply referring to Locke now being Jacob’s preferred choice as a person to communicate with. Ben may also be simply alluding to his imminent expulsion from the island hence the loss of his spiritual connections and dream guidance. Do you think thats it or do you think theres more to Ben’s comment about his old dreaming habits? You know yourself , with Ben, you never can tell!

gizmorocks: doesn’t Widmore also make some comment about (bad) dreams when Ben visits him in the night? The whole dream stuff might definitely be pointing us somewhere…

    Cool! +1
