…there are certain areas in the world that contain different energies.
— Islander
Bernard and Rose were supposed to be on their honeymoon when they went to Australia. But in actuality, Bernard was taking Rose to see Isaac of Uluru, a faith healer, hoping he would be able to cure Rose’s terminal cancer. The conversation between Isaac and Rose is VERY interesting and contains some hints concerning the island’s powers.
Isaac tells Rose that there are certain areas in the world that have different energies. Then after Isaac fails to heal Rose, he explains that it’s not that she can’t be healed, but rather it just isn’t the right place. Once Rose arrives on the island, her cancer is miraculously cured. Could the island be the right place? Even if it was the right place some type of ‘faith healer’ like Isaac would have to channel the ‘energy’ from the island to her. Could Jacob be this ‘faith healer’?
Also, Locke was miraculously cured of his paralysis upon arriving on the island. Could Jacob have cured Locke the same way he cured Rose?
The island could very well be one of the certain areas in the world that contain different energies, and Jacob knows how to channel this energy and use it as he sees fit.

I like your idea, but I’m assuming it is just one of many bullet points on Jacob’s impressive resume. +1
I’m pretty sure that’s what the rose/bernard flashback was saying. But Jacob, or perhaps someone else being a healer, that part is new.
Not only does the island heal, but it causes illness. The island has a mind of it’s own and I think it is personified as Jacob, who is also a person who is very special. Remember when Jack had is appendix nearly burst in Season 4? There was more dialog between Bernhard and Rose when they talked more about the healing powers of the island. Bernhard suggested that the gods were mad at Jack. Essentially, Jacob is the god of the island, and yes, the island has special magnetic/spiritual properties that have something to do with it’s location, or locations.
OK, so Jacob is a special person whom owns the island and controls it’s special power. Jacob freaked out when Locke first came to the cabin, and now he has Christian Sheppard do his talking when communicating to Locke. Why is that? I think it is because Jacob IS Locke. When the O6 bring Locke’s body back to the island in Season 6, I think Locke will come to life in a different state of being, as the spirit of the island. BTW, I think Abaddon could be Micheal too.

I also think that Locke may actually be Jacob, however I’m not so sure about Micheal being Abbadon…. In the episode when Locke first finds Jacobs cabin with Ben( not later with hurley) we see a glimpse of Jacob, shadowed and only very brief however the sillouete looks similar to Locke only with hair, and the voice Locke hears (jacob’s)saying “help me”, is Identical to his own after being shot by ben, when ben asks what jacob told him..
The guy who actually played as Jacob in that first episode is the prop director for LOST. He’s the guy who puts together the set for every episode. He does look slightly like Terry O’Quinn from the profile. I believe the “Help Me” part also provides some proof, but we shall see.
I meant to say that I think Abaddon is Walt, not Micheal. The reason I think Abaddon is Walt is because of how he referred Locke as Mr.Locke at the hospital. That scene where he inspired Locke to go on a walkabout was very interesting. Abaddon talked about going on a walkabout and discovering who he was, and next time Locke sees him, he’ll owe him a favor. I think that Abaddon/Walt is one of the special people who can use the time traveling properties. Locke did pay back the favor to young Walt by teaching him to commune with the island when he threw the knife. Just watch that scene again when Abaddon tells Locke to go on his walkabout and think of him as a reformed Walt.
If Abaddon is Walt, how come both Walt and Abaddon appeared at the Mental Health Institution (following the rescue of the O6) where Hurley was? Remember Abaddon posed as a lawyer for Oceanic Airlines and wanted to know if ‘they’ are still alive. Walt came and wanted to know why the O6 were lying. Can Walt change his age whenever he wants?
Islander,
On the whole walt = Abaddon thing, thing “back to the future.” Doc Brown went back to the 50s with Marty. Doc Brown ran into his 30 year younger self.
Depending on how the whole time travel thing plays out, but couldn’t Abaddon be walt in 15 or 20 years but has traveled back in time to a period where he “runs into” his 20 year younger self?
Just a thought.
alright I can see that being a possibility a lot more so that Abaddon being Micheal… and you’ve got a point with the whole Mr. Locke comment. I was always wondering when Locke would “repay the favor” to Abaddon. I like the Idea and It could work, who knows? we’ll see I guess.
Lost_Dbutz: I kind of like the idea that Abaddon is Walt. That would be an interesting twist.
But, who or what do you think “Taller Ghost Walt” is? I’m only asking because if Abaddon is future Walt then it would appear that taller ghost Walt is working against Abaddon/future Walt.
We know Abaddon is responsible for recruiting Naomi, Frank, Miles, Daniel and Charlotte. But taller ghost Walt told Locke he had to stop Naomi, and not let her bring the rest of her people to the island.
I originally thought that taller ghost Walt may have been a future projection of Walt himself, but now I’m not so sure. Unless, taller ghost Walt is trying to stop his future self. Maybe he’s thinking he can save his father’s life.
I don’t know, but I just gave myself a headache.
And sorry Islander, it seems we’ve gotten a bit off the subject of you post.
