Is the island at the hub of all 6 of these realms? Then moving the Dharma Wheel—does that take the island location from a spot on earth more closely related to one realm to another one?

First a tip of the hat to PaintGirl for pointing me to the fact that the wheel Ben turns is a Dhama Wheel. That wheel keeps showing up—in the stadium that Des and Jack are running in…In a design in Susan & Brian’s ceiling: See link for other references: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Dharmacakra
So think of the 6 spokes of the wheel (Oceanic 6). They represent these chakras in the body:
Sahasrara: Consciousness (Jack)
Ajna: Pineal Gland-awareness of time and light, inner vision (Hurley)
Vishuddha: Thyroid-growth and maturation (Aaron)
Anahata: Thymus/Chest-compassion, love (Kate)
Manipura: Solar Plexus-conversion of food to energy (Sayid)
Svadhistana: Sacrum-sexuality, reproduction, creativity (Sun)
Those would be my guesses anyway. (Though I’m tempted to list FF Sayid under Svadhistana ;-)
But then I also found out that the 6 Chakra are associated with 6 Realms of Existence:
Deva realm: realm of the gods, realm of bliss and pride
Asura realm: realm of the demigods, actions based on combat & rationalization.
Human realm: passion, desire, doubt
Animal realm: stupidity, prejudice
Hungry Ghost realm: possessiveness, unsatisfied needs, unfulfilled desires
Naraka realm: aka Hell, based on hatred in previous lives
(is moving the wheel a way of acessing those realms?) Is the island at the hub of all 6 of these realms? Then moving the Dharma Wheel—does that take the island location from a spot on earth more closely related to one realm to another one?
OK and one last thing—returning to the bodily chakras—here’s a description from Wikipedia (all the information here is a condensed version of info from there): “A chakra is a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra literally translates as wheel or disk and refers to a spinning sphere of bioenergetic activity emanating from the major nerve ganglia branching forward from the spinal column”
Spinning disks of energy—the storms off the island? Possibly 6 of them?
And remember what Issac told Rose about mystical areas on earth—again I’m betting, 6 of them.
Symbolically, is the island the spinal column? Maybe that’s why all the back issues…There is actually a 7th Chakra but one that is supposed to go beyond the physical and is the base or root of all the others—and that one (wait for it) DOES reside at the base of the spine.
The “Muladhara”—interesting that though it is key to achieving spiritual potential is also supposed to be connected to human reproduction (pregnancy issues)—and maybe THIS is why the island needs a spinal surgeon? To solve both the reproduction/survival issues (the body) and release the island’s spiritual potential.
Reproduction/Survival vs. Spirituality/Altered Consciousness — I think that’s the Ben vs. Richard conflict on how to use the island’s power.
And then…Just thinking about the way in which they’ve all come back to their lives on the mainland (but more so)—Hurley back in the mental hospital, Sayid back to being a soldier (for Ben), etc.
So is this like reincarnation—trapped back into existence and living one’s mistakes over again? As opposed to the redemption/rebirth the island offers?

Aggressive reading (you can read like nobody’s business!); I like the “trapped”/labyrinthine suggestion…as if Desmond and Jack are running in a maze, coupled with the actual rat in the maze who is the prototype, the first to experience the purple radiating light.
Personally I kind of balk at teleologic anything; meaning I resist readings that push implaccably toward finality, sublating difference. But after all the ending of the program is predetermined, and what you are noting, the correspondence between the 06 and predetermined value and force is a good reading, however I think (or should say I am hoping) we will experience a saving difference inserted into the story line.
Thanks retro :-) (oh and the running in the maze—Des & Jack are running in opposite directions—and I think they are Jack/Superman Des/Flash as far as the world race, comics allusions)
But sorry if this gave the impression of a teleologic reading–nothing could be further from my intention.
Sorry for the triple post; but re: the way they come back to their life on the island but “more so”: seeing the author of the post before yours whose author was something something baudrillard got me to thinking: Baudrillard (the guy who died last year)’s concept of reification got me to thinking…reification suggests submission of the individual to standardization of life, but the individual is alienated to his life…social processes dominating them, suggesting the places they should occupy and roles that they should play; and they are submitting; however because of the island experience, theit perspectives have changed and they have become different and they are aware of their alienation (at least Jack and Hurley, maybe Jin); maybe the altered perspective has put them on the road to becoming.
I really don’t want to put a damper on your theory but aren’t there “eight” spokes on a Dharma Wheel?
Other then that I really do like the theory.
D’oh!
Elsewhere, you’re right. I was just assuming because of the number of chakras. Oh well :-)
Hi jazz! Nice to read one of your posts again, I always learn something from you;)
Please check copy and paste this link.
This may seem more plausable than the dharma wheel you speak of.

JazProf, always a good read +1
Jaz, like I said I really do like the theory. I even +1 you :)
I really think the chakra’s and the realms of existence may play a part in the overall mythology of LOST.
There was a post I seen on here a while ago about the book “Be Here Now” written by Dr. Richard Alpert/Baba Ram Dass.
I believe a lot of this book deals with opening your chakra’s and reaching enlightenment and it definitely fits with the concept of your theory.
Here is the link to the theory: http://lost-theories.com/theories/2008/may/04/cool-find-wsome-pics-richard-a/
