I know there are a lot of new people on board since the new year—so wanted to post an explanation of the Group 1 posts (if you’ve seen them) and ask a question.
At the end of season 3 people on LT decided to start reviewing the episodes together to give us all something to do and think about until season 4 started (tomorrow!). We were doing two episodes a week through most of the summer and fall—and I wound up doing most of the initial posts. (So if you’re curious to see some of them just do a search on “Group 1”). The last one I did was “Flashes”—then got a bit bogged down with work. So I wanted to let new folks know what the Group 1 posts were, and then also to ask two questions—you guys want to continue to do them with the new episodes? (I’d do a detailed write up probably a couple days after the episode aired.) And shall I go back and finish up season 3 after?

jaz, I say a most definite yes, to that. Although I did not really partake in the last one, I really would like to include myself if you do it for Season 4. We are looking at the possibility ,that we may have plenty of time to discuss the first 8 episodes! If they don’t get this strike settled very soon! +1

I’ve been a fan of group 1 since you guys helped me vastly understand and answer burning questions I had when first taken in by this phenomenon we call Lost a few months back. (I’ve only been watching for a couple months)
After every new episode I’d look directly to the “group 1” post. Keep it up!
jazprof, I think your posts are incredibly insightful and would love for you to continue doing them throughout season 4. You seem to have an artistic flair for noticing the little things. And that’s why, yes, I think you should finish season 3 as well.
Jaz, I know its a lot to ask :) but could we possibly have a group 1 for the current season and for season 3. Maybe the season 3 one could be early in the week and the season 4 group 1 a day or two after it airs? The hard work usually falls to you so its up to you.

Jaz - don’t think I didn’t notice there’d been a sudden cut off. Still, at least it was just work and you hadn’t, you know, died.
Personally, I was considering doing some form of ‘reaction’ from myself a few days after I’d seen each episode. I think I probably will, but keep it out of ‘Group 1’. Main reason being ‘group 1’ feels like it’s yours (I know you’ve too much humility to agree, but I am telling you that’s how I see it) and, frankly, you look at Lost in ways I never do - and I don’t want any part in getting in the way of that. You promise to write ‘em, I promise to read ‘em.
Oh… I’d suggest you handle S4 while it’s on, and then pick up S3 during the hiatus. Who knows how long that break’s gonna be. . .?
AC, It’s rumored that due to shortened 8 episode season 4, we may be treated to a 22 to 24 episode Season 5 that will start earlier.
But, I guess if you factor in that we will only be getting our Season 4 LOST fix until March 20th here in the States, the wait would be about the same.
And yes jaz, you still have a book in the making…
Losties (like Trekies) will propagate and spread their madness long after the show is over.
My offer to edit, consult, and help you in publishing your brilliant insights still stands.
I’m in for Season 4, jazzie.
AC is probably right jazz. Maybe we should put the rest of season 3 away for the looooooooong hiatus. Its a shame in a way because a lot of the insights you come up with carry over so there will be,like, an insight gap if you know what I mean o_O
Yeah Jaz they are always an excellent read and as AC says you look at things in a very different way. This invariably leads to more understanding.
Actually, it’s occurred to me that returning to S3 during the S4 hiatus may benefit some of the posts anyway. You may learn new stuff that sheds new light and angles on what we have seen and is therefore more suited to ‘re-appraisal’.

jaz - can i just echo KSJ’s comments in the first reply to your post and make one small request? RE: finishing S3 - would it be possible at the end of each Group One to say which episode is up next for people that want to watch it in advance of the discussion? :-)

Anyway, my opinion doesn’t count as I’m being —and this time I really need to— off the site. Season 4 doesn’t start over here until at least September… so I’m not going to be around here, or I’d end up knowing too much…
Sure thing DDJ—and I think I will go with the S3 after S4 idea. I’ll generally try to post on S4 sometime over the weekend after the episode airs.
