Is anyone else having a problem getting into find 815. I’m getting a screen telling me I don’t have authoriztion and an error code 403.

Annie, I am getting the same error! Darkufo blogspot is reporting no one is getting on too. I guess we will just have to be patient.

Well, I even tried going on the ABC site, clicked on Find 815 & got the same error 403 Forbidden. This is not going to be a real good promotion if they don’t get it fixed real soon.You would think ,that they would have known if they gave a set starting time that their site would crash from everyone getting on at the same time??

Ok I got on find815.com…granted its Midnight here, but I can’t sleep anyway. Here’s the rub on Chapter 2 Phase 1:

You get a new video of Sam abord the Christiane 1 and you have to play a little game that involves fixing the ship’s broken chart plotter. Unfortunately there are so many bugs that the plotter won’t load.

Hopefully by tomorrow they’ll have it worked out. Nite all!

Oh and there appears to be a new email but that won’t load either! Grrrrr!!

Lots of juicy little tidbits at the start of this Chapter. Especially the dialog and the Captain’s comments about the ship’s weight needing to be accounted for and the potential problems with the instruments on board.

Annie and Sham…I am too lazy to play. Could you perhaps write a little recap or should I get my lazy arse to another site to find out what is going on? I would rather hear your take on the game though :-) wtf offers dharma cookies to sham and annie :-)

The start of Chapter 2 was pretty good. The site was frustrating last night, but it’s all good this morning.

Sham, I completely agree, those boats have to be similar for some reason. And good to see a familiar name (Talbot) popping up….should generate some good conversation. Oh, and I thought it was a HUGE clue when the captain talked about the instruments going haywire. Gee, I wonder where they think they’re going…..

I can’t wait to see why the Maxwell Group is pulling Sam into all of this.

I’m checking out the psot-it picture Oc. A longitude of 13.4121(?) and latitude of -11.1784 is around Angola Africa. So maybe the numbers on the post-it are latitudes. I have been looking for other numbers we have seen so far that could be longitudes.

There are either two companies that have an interest in finding 815, The company who hired Talbot and the Maxwell Group that is sending Sam clues, or the Maxwell Group hired Talbot but someone there is sending Sam clues at the risk of getting caught.

I saw some Google Earth pics on DarkUFO. I’m updating my G.E. program now.

Sham: I read that as 23.4121, although I don’t know how did Sam got those numbers. However, using -11.1784 and 81.8151 you get somewhere west of Christmas Island, maybe a bit off course but it’s the nearest I got. I tried making sense of the lines the “grey numbers” appear in (you know, the first 1 occurs in line 2, and so on…) without succeeding until now.

About the Google Earth thing, it’s fan made.

You are right about it being a 2 and not a 1. Sam has horrible handwriting.

I’m fairly convinced that the -11.1784 number is a latitude. Maybe the next clue we get from Sam’s contact will be a longitude.

Shammers: Up until now, I was assuming you were right about -11.1784 being a latitude. But I just took another look at the post-it I mentioned and, just below where it says “course plot”, there is written a formula I can’t understand and, at the right side, the number 81.8151. That number is written inside a “circle” and, just over it, it’s written “lat”. So maybe we are both wrong, and 81.8151 is the latitude?

On the other hand, the Maxwell Group logo has the compass “mirrored”, and that may be the reason why Sam wrote in his post-it the number 15.1818 and —I think— “long” just below the 81.8151. Anyway I checked Google Earth with -11.1784 as latitude and 15.1818 and got somewhere in Mali Africa… hm… not looking like it’s the thing…

I’m guessing the “employers” we hear about is the Maxwell Group, but it’d be interesting to see the Paik or Widmore names pop up again.

There was also mention of “Kwon” being part of a name of a boat in the Ch.2 video (full boat name=kwikwon, i think), and Kwon is the last name of Jin and Sun. Might be something, might be nothing.

I’m no expert, but doesn’t the “-” or minus indicate South which would only be used with a latitude coordinate?

my apologies if this has been covered, but i thought it was cute how they changed sam’s search engine from www.findinfoout.com to www.findoutpedia.com. at least it makes sense now.

please bear with me on this. i could totally be barking up the wrong tree here. i googled “-11.1784 ” and decided to look up things that happened in the year 1784. one of the first things that i found was it was this

minus 11 days? the first part of our number. i got curious and continued reading abou the julian calender. nothing really popped out at me until i came to the bottom of the page and noticed a “time” category. once clicked there is a sub category and under mythology there is something called dreamtime. capt. occam’s post above mentions our maxwell compass on a site called dreamstime. here’s what wiki had to say about “dreamtime”

“Aboriginals believe in two forms of time. Two parallel streams of activity. One is the daily objective activity … The other is an infinite spiritual cycle called the “dreamtime,” more real than reality itself. now, on the same page they make mention of a “rainbow serpent”. where have we seen this serpent before? once again on our maxwell group image. once thought an oroborous, but does not interconnect ( that i’m aware of, anyhow)

here’s where it gets interesting: ” a rainbow serpent It is known both as a benevolent protector of its people (the groups from the country around) and as a malevolent punisher of law breakers. The rainbow serpent’s mythology is closely linked to land, water, life, social relationships and fertility”

punisher of law breakers? fertility? sounds like important themes in our world of Lost. it’s also linked with the sun. who is the God of the sun? apollo.

i’m just thinkng aloud here and it’s probably nothing, but the synchronicity of it was so interesting i decided to post.

I think http://www.dreamstime.com/ is just a company that provides stock images for website developers and the company that created the game (some co. in Australia) decided to use it.

The spiral must be dreamstime’s logo and it is used like a watermark on the compass picture (click on other pics and you will see it), but the game creators did make or request at least one change. They kept it and added the reptilian head to the end of the spiral.

YourMom: True, the first link didn’t paste well. And, to be honest, it is not my finding. I got it from DarkUFO. I sort of agree with Sham here, but the snake’s head is still fishy. Oh, and I’m no graphics expert, but a workmate of mine said the Maxwell Logo is a JPEG, and that kind of graphics can’t have layers… so I don’t know. Did “they” change it, as “they” did with some other things in the game that could mislead us?

Hi, i’m a Spanish Lost fan (here it’s called “perdidos”, which means “missing”, and S3 has just finished - in December). I was wondering - maybe you had thought of this before - that this game is connected to what Naomi said about the plane found under the ocean, near Bali. I suppose the plane is found into the Sunda Trench, 6,000 meters under water. So the game (this is not an spoiler, but mere speculation) is going to show us how that “other Flight 815” was found. The salvage ship is searching for the Black Rock, but it’s going to find the Oceanic plane, and they may even show us the interior of the aircraft. One last question about what Naomi said: How can an aircraft crash into the ocean, sink [6,000 mtrs under water], and be found ENTIRE wreckage? I bet that if the plane had fallen from the sky it would had almost vanished when crashing into the water. I dunno if any of you have seen the wreckage of the Titanic but i did (on photos, of course) and only the skeleton of the ship could be seen. What about a fragile plane hitting water and resisting the pressure of the water [after sinking]? I’m sorry for the probable mistakes i might have made when writing in English. See ya

Hi guys,just finished phase 1 of chapter 2, everyone has obviously noticed the numbers in grey but the numbers which carry over the edge on each line have caught my attention, they seem to read (running downwards) - 2? 3 1 2 5 4 0 4. I’m just wondering if these numbers relate to the grey numbers at all,they could be longitude whilst the grey numbers are latitude? Just an idea,probably making something outta nothing tho!!

Is Anyone having trouble loading find815.com I was gone for the day & now I can’t get to the site? I was getting a white screen only,now this last time it showed Fatal Error.Can someone help me out?

Katesawjack: It happened yesterday too… I think there’s just too much traffic on the site… sometimes the page stays blank and sometimes says error or other system messages… just wait a while and try again… it comes back eventually…. It seems between 6pm-midnight (eastern) the site goes down or is too busy… anytime before or after usually is better :-)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Naomi say that Flight 815 had already been found?!

Why would they still be looking for Flight 815 - if it had already been found… With all the bodies onboard, according to Naomi?

Does this go back to the Time issue on the island? That time passes at a different rate than in the rest of the world? Is Find815 happening “now” in the “real world” and in the past on island time?

Is time going faster on the island?

Oh, and there are a couple of new emails sent and received. The don’t look as really significant, but hey ho. There is, also, a new Web Page on Sam’s browser, “Sunda stories”, about ship and plane dissapearances. That could add weight to the “11.1784 is a date” line of thought…

I’ll take a better look at it, and maybe re-type it over here just for the sake of killing time ;-)

In the meantime… the “Sunda Stories” web page in Sam’s browser shows two image placeholders with the message “Image not loaded. Check network settings.” Nothing weird about that, really, but if you take a closer look at the bigger one, bottom of the page, you would read something like “British Submarine HMS M2.jpg.”

I only started back on the 815 game today….got through chapter two except for the activity box which is still red and i dont know where to start to play the activity. I got the phone number after packing Sams godforsaken backpack, but Im not making an international call (unless I have to # _ # ) please tell me what to do next…

Check Sam’s email, me dear w. Or rather, go to “Story so far” and replay the “Sonya’s picture” first video. At the end, you are automatically taken to the “activity”, in which you have to find some clues in Sonya’s photo…

Updates on FIND 815…

There are two new emails to view on Sam’s laptop. One email is from Austral Air in response to Sam’s employment inquiry and the other was a request for his friend Tracey to find some information on Mr. Oscar(?) Talbot.

There is also a new website as Occam mentioned that is a history of disappearances in the Sunda Trench, but it may be interesting to note that when I logged on last night it was a page on the Black Rock slaving ship so that has changed.

Some things to think about…

It was assumed that Mr. Talbot’s first name was Owen, but I think the Captain was yelling gruffly for a crew member while Mr. Talbot happened to be on his way up. Sam’s email seems to indicate it is Oscar Talbot.

The Sunda Trench sounds like a regular Bermuda Triangle. The last date of an incident in that area recorded on the website was in 2003. This still doesn’t help us with the date placement because there have been previous spans of five years or more between incidents in the past.

Now I don’t know if that kind of “replacements” like the one of the web page about the Black Rock is only a “correction” or was meant to mean something for the game.

I was thinking the same thing Oc. Maybe in this case it is like Sam is just surfing the net, but with the Sunda Trench page, it appears they removed information they either didn’t want us to use or wasn’t important.

Maybe it was added prematurely in the game because if you read Sam’s email to Tracey he gives her/him a little “poke” at the end for having not come up with the information yet.

I think the Captain was yelling for a crew member named Owen because his tone changes when he sees Mr. Talbot (his employer) and he addresses him as such.

Shammers: I re-watched the video, and I think you’re right. You don’t shout “Owen!” to your boss, and then address to him as “Mr. Talbot…”

It seems as though the people who are running this game are releasing things too early…first the “Pack Sam’s Bag” game on the ABC website, and now the Black Rock page before Sam even gets anything from his contact. I wonder if 10,000+ LOST enthusiasts logging on simultaneously falls under the category of “acts of god”?

As I said before, you must remember that, although now we are in 2008, Lost is set in 2004 and the losties have spent 3 months so far in the island (december 2004). Maybe the year difference (december 2004 or 2007) is not a problem and we are supposed to assume that the search of Oceanic 815 was abandoned after 3 months. I don’t think they would spend more than 3 years looking for the plane. So the plane we may find at the end of this game is the one Naomi talked about.

DeRosi, my pal… knowing the insurance companies, and the huge amount of money involved, I don’t think three years would be such a long time… ;-)

Obviously we come from different countries. After three months of looking for something, a Spanish worker would go on strike, regardless of the money lol… ;-)

hey all, apologies if this has already been posted - I haven’t seen it but could have missed it. There’s a few nice easter eggs in the webpage on Sam ‘s computer about the Sundra trench. For instance, does anyone think that the submarine that went missing is the one the Others use? Could the US military boat that was lost be the source of Goodwin’s knife? Could one of the boats reported as missing be how the Hostiles got to the Island?

These points have probably been brought up before…

It can’t be 2008 for Sam because Oceanic just re-started operations. How can he be an employee for a company that wasn’t operational?

The same thing goes for Jack and his Golden Passes. How can he fly in April (date he sees Kate) in 2007?

2008 has to be thrown out of the equation. How can it be looked at as than just a promotion for the show?

But I understand your point. Some investigations take years and there are huge amounts of money at stake. Enough to warrant the length or at least afford it.

Ok, I’m going through a bit of a recap here.

First: the “GMN World News” video at the very beginning: Oceanic announces they will stop the searching — “the largest search operation in the company’s history”. It is “breaking news”, so we should assume the search has been pretty much followed by media. We know media, right? They usually forget about this kind of stories as soon as a new one appears. Is this “breaking news” just because it’s the end of a long forgotten story? Or the “largest search operation” wasn’t that large that the media covered it with another “shockiest” one?

At least I think we should assume Oceanic existed as a company during the search. Maybe it wasn’t operating flights? In that video, Sam is presented as an “Oceanic IT Technician”, so he wasn’t fired yet… That should mean the company existed and had employees —the “news girl” talks about protests from “dozens of Oceanic employees”…

The only clue about how long did the search take is this: the passenger and crew are expected to be declared decesased few days after Oceanic announcement. Assuming Oceanic is based on Sydney, does anyone know how long must it take for an Aussie judge to declare deceased someone missing? ‘Cause, if we have to believe this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deathinabsentia) it’s fairly common to have to wait for seven years. Of course if an evidence of a plane crash had been found, there would be no need for such a long wait…

Good questions Captain Oc, I’m still trying to sort out all the variables in regards to the time line.

The fact that the information from first LOST experience is questionable as far as being “canon” doesn’t help.

Hopefully we will get some more clues as far as dates from this LE and from the show.

Second: The “hacked video” in Oceanic website. Sam says Oceanic will announce the end of the search for flight 815 in the next few hours. So it is 2008 for Sam, because the announcement was aired on the news after December 28th, 2007…

Are we fine with this? Do we agree the search was more than three years long, no matter what I said before about the media attention span?

I’m going to start a new thread for 815 soon even though we have about 7 hours to go. This one is slowly making it’s way to page two and is getting ginormous.

I hear what you are saying Oc, but should we just look at that as a clever way to start the game, a “delayed” hack job by Sam (someone else did it), or that this is going on in “real time”?

Sam’s motivation for the hack job was, IMO, the end of the search. Your approach would mean Oceanic was searching for the plane until after its coming back to operating flights. That would put Sam even more in 2008, or even after that, wouldn’t it?

One could go one of two ways…

Time runs slower on the island or it doesn’t. We are being forced to choose given the facts. Especially when it comes to Naomi’s story.
