They’ve become what they were fighting against in previous seasons.

— edub02

This is my first major post, so take it easy on me. The only reason I’m posting this is because I’ve noticed it, as I’m sure many of you have also, but I just wanted the “Others” (pun) to make the connection. They’ve become what they were fighting against in previous seasons. They’ve taken control of all the weapons and homes. Not only are they hostile to the newcomers, but they’ve also kidnapped Charlotte and Ben (just like the Others kidnapped Jack, Hurley, Sawyer and Hurley). Now Locke has Miles instead of Charlotte, but you get the point.

The time I noticed it was when Jack and Kate were being held at gun point in the jungle by Miles. They’ve become one with their surroundings and have the ability to sneak up on enemies, just like the Others. Sayid and Juliet pinned down Miles and Daniel in the same manner that caused Kate and Jack to get surrounded in Season 1 by Mr. Friendly and company. It’s just an interesting twist to me, but also, I believe it will cost them.

Our survivors seem to be getting a little too cocky (John Locke for example) in their knowledge of the island. I believe this will cause them to get into a situation in which they feel confident of the outcome, but the result will not favor them. It’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Great first major post. Im right there with you on this one. Watching season 4, Ive been getting the distinct feeling that the series is going to end in the same fashion season 3 began. Locke and crew enjoying their ilsand digs, lounging about and out of no where they spot a plane crashing towards the island. Locke, all paranoid looking, sends scouts. Maybe it wont come to pass but it sure seems possible with the island loving branch of the lostees

Nice observation edub. It sure is true…they’ve become the hostiles that offer no reason for their actions, they just believe they’re in the right.

I agree. I like what you said about Sayid and Julliete being like Mr. Friendly. What we should think about though, is not that the new hostiles, or even the original others are evil, but the forces that control their actions are evil i.e. Jacob and the island

I like that …”They have become that which they beheld”

Of course, you also have to look at the motivations of the losties as compared to the Others.

The Others have a definate, though unknown, agenda and are willing to do anything to prosecute that agenda.

The only agenda for the Losties (not counting Locke, of course) is to get home. And I don’t think they are quite so cold-blooded in working towards that end as the Others would be.

Spot-on with your observation about their comfort level regarding their familiarity with the island…the Losties have become the new “home team” and the Not Penny’s Boat people are now the visitors.

nice first post. One of the main questions to my mind is exactly who has engineered this switch - who/what is the highest power behind it?

we will eventually discover that the others’ intentions really weren’t all that evil in the first place. we will come to sympathize with them, maybe even feel for them. I think that Ben is really the good guy.

and (skaven83) if ben becomes a good guy, then it makes sense syaid would have no problem working for him… interesting conclusion.. +1

    Astute observation edub02!

I did notice that too…both Lostie factions are now aggressive and have no fear of trekking around the island…although I guess having firearms and grenades will do that for you.

skaven83, I also I agree with you as far as Ben. When he said “we’re the good guys” back in season 2…I think that’s going to end up being the truth. Ben might be a “bad guy” as far as how he does things, but not the reason WHY he does them.

As far as the Freighter people, I don’t think individuals like Daniel, Charlotte, and Frank are bad guys, but the people who sent them to the island are.

i hate to say it but this does seem like it could go down. but if i had to choose someone that would have to pay for being to cocky and thinkin they know the deal it would be locke. as much as i love them man tits he needs to get smacked in the mouth and be told chill the f*ck out.

great post, I’ve been noticing that too, I wish we knew where the original “others” were right now, they will definitely be making an appearance later I’m sure. The losties and the others might possibly have to band together in the future

Not anymore, though! Some of the Lostees seem pretty content to follow Locke, just as the Others follow(ed?) Ben, and stay on the island. And perhaps a lot of the original Others were clueless about their mission, too.

I didn’t even think about how the Lostees are now living in the Others’ houses! +1

Wow, I didn’t expect this kind of reaction from you guys. Beginner’s luck I suppose!

Well, now the thing to do is wait and see what happens next. It’s just going too smoothly for them for it to continue down the yellow brick road with no consequences. I love the Miles 3.2 (5 zeros) theory, and completely agree with it. And that is what will probably start the downward spiral for our guys.

But then of course I could be WAY off base here. It is Lost after all!

i really dont know what to think about this theory… I actually dont even know what to think of you edub02… This could be a plausible effort at maiking an intelligent statement, but it sounds like you havent even seen the first three seasons… I would try to study a little harder… i did however give you a + on yer rating mmmkay…
