Is there any clean way of getting to the island?

— sawyerlove1

Has anyone else ever realized that they have never shown anyone coming safely to the island?

1) The plane crash- 815 hits major turbulence, then breaks apart and each hald crashes on an opposite side of the island

2) Desmond- Hs boat runs into a storm, then lands on the island with him unconscious—

3) Naomi- Hurley, Desmond, Charlie and Jin see the helicopter, then hear it whirring down, right before it lands in the ocean, Naomi parachutes out

4) The helicopter- It was supposedly struck by lightening, goes into turbulence, and all the members have to jump out.

My realization has made me ask the obvious question: Is there any clean way of getting to the island? The submarine was a supposed way to doing so..but we never actually witness the submarine in motion. And we still haven’t seen exactly what happened to Michael and Walt after leaving on the boat. Notice that the other freighter people aren’t at the island. They’re staying on the freighter that’s (i think) 80 miles..or soemthing like that..away

This leads me to believe all those theories about portholes and ect..Probably the reason why nobody can safely land on the island is because they are entering some sort of new dimension or time. As Daniel tells us in last week’s episode, there’s about a 30 minute time difference, which is why the people on the frieghter are still safe. This proably doesnt occur until someone is maybe a mile or 1/2 a mile away or so.

I know nothing about time travel, science, portholes or any of that stuff. So i could be 100% wrong. If someone has information that will help me please feel free to post.

I also have a theory about Michael: I think that the coordinates Ben gave him right before he left the island were not to get back home. I think they were for the freighter. Ben knew the freighter was out there looking for the island and that it couldn’t find it because the transmitions were being blocked. So, he led Michael to the boat, knowing that he would get on it thinking it was safe and that it would take him home. I think Michael is Ben’s man on the boat.

Well, we have seen Juliet arrive safely on the Island. But she had to be knocked unconscious. And although she got out of a sub, you’re right to point out we never saw the sub arrive.

However, if the submarine really is a complete fraud then the Looking Glass Station, with its sonar set-up, would also seem to be an elaborate front to corroborate this fraud - and I don’t buy it. I think the submarine was the means by which Juliet was safely transported to the Island; I think possibly a person being conscious during the transportation might effect the stability of the journey.

This question can be answered in 2 different ways: the scientific and the supernatural. Scientifically, you can talk about theoretical physics and the ideas of wormholes, time portals, electromagnetic interference, and other dimensions. On the other hand you can answer your question by assuming that the island and/or Jacob have supernatural / mythical abilities that cause problems for those traveling to the island. Ironically, this seems to be the main diametric crux of the entire show; faith vs. science. I love how almost every event on the show can be explained both scientifically and spiritually. I’m still on the fence of the subject, but I think the final answer to LOST will involve a nice combination of both.

Do we know Naomi’s chopper landed in the ocean then? if so, how come none of the freighter folk have asked what happened to it or the pilot?

And it begs the question - if they had 2 choppers and 2 pilots, how many people are actually on the freighter?
