First theory so be gentle, and I do not know if this was posted anywhere else yet, but here goes nothing.
Charles Widmore had to at one point in time been on the island, more than likely an original founder of Dharma. He is currently suffering the same symptoms as Jack is and “he sleeps with a bottle of scotch next to the bed since the nightmares started.” This also ties together how he would know of the Black Rock and why he bids on and purchases the journal. Jack and him have the want to get back to the island and it has driven them both to insanity. Ben also states he cannot kill Widmore, why? It is similar to the situation Michael has when he cannot kill himself either. I also believe that when Ben accuses Widmore of “changing the rules” it implies that any person directly affected by the island’s time loop cannot change their previous fate. Therefore Widmore wouldn’t be able to kill anyone that has been affected by the island, but after the Desmond fails to hit the button it renders the island “inert” and allows people who have not been involved in the time loop to “change the rules” such as Keamy does. This is a brief theory and I will have more time to elaborate after my finals, but feedback would be helpful!

You have some interesting thoughts. You should “fine tune” them a little (after finals) and use evidence or actual occurrences in the show for your support. A lot of your theories above are currently just based on assumptions or guesses.
