I mean like….how did they get the idea to use this place in the first…place?

Hello Lost Addicts, Islandophiles, Other Aficionados, and CandleHalliwaxWickmundians. I was reading through some of the most recent theories and an idea cropped up in the ol’ head.
If the Island is so hard to find…How did DHARMA find it? I mean it seems like the perfect place to do some hardcore philan-psycho-thropic, mystical voodoo type research so someone had to be aware of it and its “specialness” and give (offer/suggest/sell/pass down/back alley whisper) it to DHARMA or whomever facilitated the use of it for DHARMA research.
If i were to imagine the situation it might play out like this…
—Someone or a group of someones finds out about the island in a bunch of possible ways:
*A random find by an expeditionary team. Some knowledge connected to the Black Rock and Magnus Hanso. An electromagnetic anomaly similar to that which entering the numbers into Ye Olde Ancient Computer prevents. The uncovering of some ancient scrolls or tablets that give information about a wicked island resort where time is all funky and the only thing to bother you are the occasional migratory bird and some boar…and maybe the locals…if there were any before DHARMA’s first visit. Please submit your own ideas to add to this
—The DHARMA initiative’s prayers are answered by finding out about this island and decide to use it.
—Somehow they are able to ascertain the location of the island and set up shop which would have taken a considerable amount of time without any interruption from the Locals or the Carcinogenic Cerberus three headed paparazzi monster.
—They figure out that the Sonic Fence is a great way to keep out Old Smokey the Cerberus and that they built one of their stations in a location near some insane electromagnetic “thingy” and after some sort of “incident” they decide they need to discharge it every ohhhh 108 minutes or so.
How the heck did they find out about this place if it is so unfindable or was it only made unfindable after DHARMA sank their crazy head shrinking teeth into it?
Help me flesh this out folks :)
Thanks and I love this site !!!!

good . I bet we learn of a Dharma Widmore connection.
Good point about finding the island suddenly difficult whereas it was easy in the past. Perhaps the DI figured out how to hide it once they understood the powers of it.
