Charles”that island is mine, always was. it will be again” ben”but you’ll never find it” Charles”well i guess the hunt begins” (hint: begins not continues)

— rebroseph

What completely sold me on this idea was the fact that in this scene charles does not know the wareabouts of the island. in the present time he is just offshore and sending helicopters to and fro.

i beleive that ben once had a real daughter and however she was killed was the beginning of this whole “war” between the 2 of them. u might say “y then does charles mention that ben had been in iraq?” well if you listen closely, ben says he has been to iraq before but that it had been a while (hint: this scene takes place at the time he was in iraq last time long ago). so ultimately i think somehow bens real daughter was killed and he blames charles and thats what is going on during this whole show, the ongoing hunt of trying to find the island and kill penny(hint: ben always talks about how he is at war) hence the freighter coming in the present episodes where charles has finally found it.

I don’t think so, I think since that there is a problem with time on the island, the island is slowly moving away from it’s current location.

It’s an interesting thought, but I think it is in the future, or after the O6 are discovered. It seems like the island becomes much harder to find in the future, or that it is just better “hidden” than before. This is also indicated by Jack’s dialogue in TTLG when he keeps telling Kate that he tries to go back, but he can’t.

Plus, the conversation between Ben and Widmore sounds like they are talking about Alex. They mention the “rule change” that was triggered by Alex’s death.

    1.  Knife
    2. Rule change mentioned both at the body of Alex and in Widmore’s pent.
    3. Ben would not have been hanging on the island a lot, flirting with overeducated midwives and benipulating “people who say baa”.

You found a very good detail - Widmore’s boat is successfully getting people on the island yet Widmore says he can’t find it.

The problem is that their conversation takes place after Alex was killed, but it’s a good observation.+1

    Not very likely.

It’s more likely that after leaving the Island the freighter was unable to locate it again. And due to the communications problems Widmore wasn’t able to get its exact coordinates either. Remember, the submarine needed a sonar beacon to find the Island.

The conversation between Ben and Widmore takes place well after the episode just seen. What interests me is that they know each other, and have met before, since Widmore comments on Ben’s tan and his buggy eyes. Where and when did they meet before?

Widmore doesn’t know whats been happening on the freighter because the communications room has been destroyed.
