Claire wanted to give her baby away to people who knew that song, right? It was pretty important to her
I think that Claire will learn that Jack is her brother when Jack humms or sings the song that claire wanted her almost-adoptive parents to know.
This is the same way that Sawyer learned that he had met Jack’s dad. Jack just had to say a phrase, and Sawyer knew. And it would make sense because Jack’s dad would’ve sang it to little claire.
It just makes sense to me. Let me know what you guys think.

That’s a brilliant idea Jackismydad and certainly is a possibility.
Interesting that you posted this when I just watched “Par Avion” this morning. This is the episode that Claire meets her father Christian Shepard but never learns his name.
Some others have speculated that Claire may find Christian’s wallet, read his I.D., and make the connection, but I think the way you suggest is much more heart warming.
And yes, that was a cool moment between Sawyer and Jack. Now imagine Jack humming the song to Aaron as Claire walks up…
I can’t think of a better way for the writers to do it. A big plus 1 from me.
I will go out on a limb and say that the writers of LOST are so clever that they will leave many things undiscovered by the characters. One of them will be that Jack and Claire will NEVER know they are related. This lack of knowledge will make Jack’s fall that much more tragic because he will continue to think he is alone, as will Claire.
How do you think Claire is going to react to the news that Charlie is dead? That could put that girl over the edge, yes?

Treesneakers: what you say may well be true but I have to say it makes me very sad to think of it. As much as I don’t like Jack I think this would be terribly tragic. Everyone deserves to know their family even if they later decide to reject them. I hope Jack and Claire find one another.
That last post was tongue-in-cheek by the way (though only somewhat).
Tree, there have been rumors (possible spoilers) that Claire and Jack will find out their relationship to each other. I just can’t see a relationship like that used (or not used) in that manner.
I think we are entering a different “act” of the play if you will. I don’t think this series will be labeled a tragedy in the end. At least I hope not.

Sham I’m with you. I think the writers will make something of their relationship. Otherwise why show it in the first place.
And I have to say if this turns out to be a tragic story I may never recover.

I like this idea, but how do Claire and Jack get from “Hey, I know that song, too!” to “Wow! It’s a good thing we didn’t hook up!”?

Right, especially a connection they made so obvious and one that included DNA.
I bet Claire knows more about Christian than we think. She may not have wanted to know his name but I bet her mother tells her he is a surgeon or a red sox fan. Either way I think they will work it out.

Jack has reluctantly taken Aaron for a little while for Claire. Jack softly hums a tune as Claire returns.
Claire: Where did you hear that song?
Jack: Oh, my dad used to sing it to me. Well, that’s what my mom said.
Claire remembers Christian saying he used to sing her songs (Par Avion).
Claire: What did your dad do Jack?
Jack: He was a doctor. I came to Sydney to bury him…
Sham the man.
Or pick up his body and transport it back to the States but you get the idea.
I can see it now…
They are sitting around the fire and Hurely says, “I wonder how my box company is doing?”. (not that he would)
Locke looks up, “How’s that? What box company?”
It could be like a domino effect… “But I was”, “Then you”, “She did what?”…
That is if they could ever get everyone together, gag Jack, and just roast some dogs and talk. :)

in response to karmavore: I was watching the season one special features, and the producers were commenting on how Walt was psychic. I remember this one part in which the producers were getting fustrated at the viewers because they didn’t get it, when they had done everything to show that Walt was indeed psychic, and people still didn’t guess (myself included). I think they mused as putting the opening scene as “walt is psychic” instead of “lost”.
Which means to say,
I think we’ll never get “real” proof, but in the case with jack and the red socks, it was enough for sawyer.

yeah. i was very dissapointed that anyone would -1 this. It sounds a lot more reasonable than a lot of stuff out there.
I wonder if someone on the plane is related to the couple that was going to adopt claire’s baby, like maybe it was jack and his wife that were going to adopt aaron.
