When Locke travel’s with the Other’s and they begin to set up camp in the area with the ruins, all the Other’s in awe of him and Cindy inform’s him that everyone is ‘just excited’ and that ‘they’ve been waiting for him’.

When Locke arrived on the island he was suddenly able to walk after spending 4 years confined to a wheel chair, and when he arrived at the Barrack’s Ben was bedridden and had to be pushed around in a wheel chair by Richard, following the infection he contracted after Jack removed his tumour.

At the camp Ben is out of his wheel chair and say’s ‘I believe I have you to thank for this, John’ and explains that Jack had told him he may never walk again but the minute Locke showed up he felt pin’s and needles.

So doe’s this mean that Locke had somehow cured himself and then his very presence cured Ben? or was Ben manipulating Locke into believing that he is special in order to make him do thing’s for him?

What does everbody think about this?

Hey CPB…I thought Ben was referring to the fact that Locke reminded him that he was living outside of the rules of the island….using technology, living in a house ,eating chicken out of the fridge..so when he left all that behind and went back to basics,as it were,he started to heal…(Just what i thought anyway)

I suppose Ben thinks Lockes special….hes a walking paraplegic….So maybe Ben was implying that simply by being in Lockes presence he started to heal….but if thats the case, why shoot him?

I think Ben senses John’s “abilities” and in true Ben fashion (sorry, I relinquished use of the term Ben-ipulaion earlier today), is using that to his advantage.

If Ben can get himself healed via John AND use that as a control tactic, he will. It is soo Ben to then shoot him and dump him into the Dharma well of souls.

That’s a great point WTF, I never really thought of it like that. It may have something to do with people losing the island’s favour when they use technology, maybe that is also what causes the pregnancy problems? But Ben did say to John that he began to regain feeling immediatlely after Locke showed up, so it seemed like he was implying that just being near Locke had cured him.

I think Ben shot Locke because he feared that Locke was about usurp his power over the other’s.

I have very mixed feelings about Locke. I do believe he is special to some extent, but to what extent, I’m not sure. (Ben must be thinking the same thing, since Locke didn’t just keel over and die in the pit.) Nevertheless, Ben didn’t seem too surprised to see him again at the radio tower, why? Another test, possibly, to see if “the island” would help Locke?

Is it “the island” and Locke vs. Ben? Or is it Ben and “the island” vs the Losties?

Or is it the island,Ben,Locke and the Losties vs the freightees??

Maybe Vincent has been gathering information on the Losties n Other’s and is gonna tell everything to the freightees?? I mean look at him, he’s shifty, the way he watched jack in the jungle, the way he mocked Charlie with the heroin doll’s, and the way he led Walt to the Polar? He’s one of them! Vincent is the enemy within!

WTF, I hope, at least, all the Losties end up on one side. I’m still not sure what side Ben is on - but you may be right; they may all end up on one side against whoever’s on the freighter. Can’t wait til season 4!

Alice: I think its by design that the Losties are now divided - half at the tower, the other half at the beach.

Can’t you see it now? Jack, Kate, Claire, Sun, etc make it back to the “real world” while Sawyer, Jin, Sayid, Bernard and Juliet are left behind.

Do you think its a mere coincidence that each has been separated from their mate (significant other - sorry, couldn’t resist)?

    Jack-Juliet

    Rose-Bernard

    Kate-Sawyer

    Sun-Jin

Locke is getting to be a pain in the rear..Ben capped him and didn’t show any surprise when Locke showed up to screw things up again with the sat phone. To me, Locke is Gilligan and is coming up with endless new ways of keeping them all on the island.

CPB: I’m pretty much with Kat on this one. But I’ve been getting that feeling about Ben ever since then too. Ever the manipulator, even in his diary, he was writing about time running out on him working to partner with the Losties for protection from whatever is coming.

His plans were falling apart, Mikail, his one true loyal underling found out he had lied to him. And he still managed to manipulate him into going to the Looking Glass to clean up his mess.

I could go on and on, but the point is Ben is a master manipulator and Locke was prime for the plucking.
