Hello All
While reading some recent theories, some of which discussed Christian, I had a thought, what if when Ben says that he needed surgery a spinal surgeon fell from the sky he was referring to Christian not Jack
Locko, I think that it’s quite plausible! I think you could be onto something with that idea. Any reasons, why you think Ben was referring to Christain??
+1
well, we have seen Christian on the island, he was a surgeon, and his body was missing. also, that seems like one of his benipulations.
Those were my exact thoughts, too! I definitely think we will be seeing Christian again, alive! Good thoughts!
lockeko, its certainly possible. And I, too, think well be seeing Christian again, alive. +1
sorry I don’t buy it. Ben was diagnosed with a spinal tumour the day before 815 crashed and Jack - a spinal surgeon - fell from the sky. It would be tenuous if he wasnt referring to Jack. also, consider that Jack was added to Jacob’s list by Ben. Christian may well reappear in Season 4 but can’t see that it’s connected to this scene or Ben’s tumour
I agree with DDJ on this one Leko, but I do think it is one of those play on words and events that the writers love. Good eye.
Always possible, but I also have to go with what DDJ said.
DDJ, It is entirely possible that Christian was brought to “the island” for purposes other than performing Ben’s surgery.
I recall the conversation between Tom and Pickett, saying that “Shepard wasn’t even on the list”, but I am not aware of an episode where he was added to the list. If you know which episode it aired, I’d be interested.
it’s an interesting idea L-E. Do you think then that Christian might not have been dead (ala the spider bite)?
Dabiatch, it is possible that Christian was brought to the island for purposes other than Ben’s surgery, which is exactly what I said in my post. also, if he is “brought” to the island as you said, then that’s not “falling out of the sky” which is what we (or at least I - i think the conversation may have expanded) were talking about.
re: the list conversation, in “I Do”, Pickett actually says “Shepard wasn’t even on Jacob’s list”, indicating that the original list had been ammended. Ben presumably was the only one with the authority to amend Jacob’s instructions… Hope that answers your questions and sounded helpful not aggressive!
DDj, I haven’t read your post, but I will. What is possible, and has been theorized, is that #815 was enroute to “the island”, and accidentally crashed because Desmond failed to turn to the fail safe key, on time. Ben’s statement about “falling out of the sky”, is, just a statement, which may not be literal.
The list has never to my knowledge been amended, and not stated as such in any episode. So, this would be presumption, not fact.
No aggression, just clarification.
(i) “Shephard wasn’t on Jacob’s list” - this proves there was a list by Jacob without Jack’s name on it. (ii) Klugh gave Michael a list with Jack’s name on it - this proves there was a list with Jack’s name on it. (iii) Tom’s comment suggests that Jacob’s list referred to the list of Losties to brought to the Hydra (iv) this suggests that Jacob’s list was changed to include Jack. This is deduction, not presumption.
re: falling out of the sky, given that Ben saw the plane crash over the island (see “A Tale of Two Cities”) i think it’s safe to reason that he means it literally. ps. the post i meant is the one earlier (5th under this theory)
DDJ, The list that Bea gave to Michael isn’t necessarily Jacob’s list. In fact i find it very unlikely that it is Jacob’s list:
JULIET: That him? Shephard? BEN: Yes. JULIET: He’s cute. Why are we doing this? Shephard will never agree to do the surgery. BEN: No, I can convince him to do it. JULIET: How? BEN: Same way I get anybody to do anything. I find out what he’s emotionally invested in, and I exploit it. JULIET: So, what? We just grab all three of them, Ford and Austen too? BEN: No they need to come to us. JULIET: And how do we make that happen? BEN: Michael, of course.
Add in Hurley who was to be the messenger and you got the list. A list to get Ben’s surgery completed nothing to do with Jacob. Jack to do the surgery and Kate and Sawyer to manipulate him into doing it.
DDJ, The list that Ben gave to Klugh is different from Jacob’s list. It was Ben’s list of who he wanted Michael to bring to him.
If you recall Juliette’s conversation in the jungle with Kate, about why Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, etc., were not on Jacob’s list, was because they were flawed. She tells Kate what each of their flaws are.
Tom’s comment was made after they had been captured. So, this may be where the confusion comes into play. If they are not on Jacob’s list according to Juliette, once they escape, they couldn’t have been amended to it, previously. Anyway, that’s my take, but you never know.
DDJ, Sorry, but I couldn’t find a post under your name 5th down. There is a post 5th down, by TimsTheMan. Is that your post??
Dab, its the 5th comment on this post that he is referring to
Locko, thanks for sorting that out!
Still doesn’t change the facts, though!
Good question Gordon Leko. I’m with those who say we will see more of Christian. Intrigue!
Way to go, Missus! Placing those two names together, ought to make his day!
I aim to please DabbieDo!
You aim too please

great vid dab
hey guys, accept the point that Bea’s list could be different from Jacob’s. as you say Dab, the timing of Tom’s comment as Jack was creating havoc having been brought into the Others is what led me down my route. I don’t remember Juliet talking about the list to Kate - do you mean Mikail?
also, back to the original point, I still think that Ben’s “falling out the sky” line was meant literally, and about Jack, and that this doesn’t stop Christian from reappearing
DDJ, I think it has been covered in my comment #15. Ben gave the list. It was also stated and confirmed in another theory yesterday. If, in doubt re-watch the episode. There are plenty of links to view them on the internet.
You could very well be right about Ben’s comments!
Peace Out!
Locko, I knew you’d like the video!
yeah good point, but if you knew about all of these ppls lives, who are you gonna choose, miracle man jack who FIXES ppl or alcoholic christian who doesnt. Its that easy.
Actually, it is completely irrelevant! Especially, if Ben didn’t know at that time Jack was on the plane, until the list of survivors was brought back, and Mikhail checked their backgrounds, etc. So, I guess it’s not that easy!
Well, there were two spinal surgeons, one dead and one alive. If it was me dying of a spinal tumor, I’d be a lot more grateful for the live one. But that’s just me. And everybody else.
I just love how you guys are too polite to just flat-out call this theory horse dung. You’re all great. Maybe I’ll learn something from you.
I actually had spinal surgery once (burst disk at L5, L6 if you must know). Never once did I wish for a dead spinal surgeon. Never even entered my mind.
