- Flag this theory:
Jack, who embodies the ultimate selfless being, consistently takes the role as the savior and leader of the people (he’s always the one volunteering to go on the dangerous treks, always the one in front of the crowd as they journey)— the MOSES of Lost.

Please see my previous theory as this is an addendum to that.
Who is Jack? This question obviously cannot be summed up in one note, but it does seem quite apparent throughout the series, that Jack is not one who cares about himself. He’s constantly out to protect/ save others. His whole essence is about securing the fate of others.
Biblically, which is the direction I’ve been taking this theory thus far, the ultimate savior of the people, the one to whom every looked up, and the one that guided the people through unbearable trials was MOSES. as such, Jack, who embodies the ultimate selfless being, consistently takes the role as the savior and leader of the people (he’s always the one volunteering to go on the dangerous treks, always the one in front of the crowd as they journey)— the MOSES of Lost.
It is his job to precure the safety and ultimate “redemption” of the survivors, and he seizes every opportunity to do so.
Only in the FF, we see a Jack who is desperate to get back onto the island, realizing that his destiny was not to lead the people OFF the island, but to lead them while ON it. On the flight we see him on, Jack yearns to get back onto the island. Later, he tells us that he doesn’t care about the people on the plane— he wants to crash. Realizing that crashing would surely kill all passengers, Jack still wants to crash, as he knows that HIS destiny is ON the island.
It is interesting to note also, that biblically Moses was a shepherd before he became the leader of the people and the ultimate prophet.
Jack’s last name on the show— shepherd!!!
Kirby, I agree completely with your assessment of Jack. +1
You have to check out the latest mobisode, it’s a few theories down from yours. Very interesting….
I think that the thing about the shepherd being in row 23 (as in psalm, as in “The lord is my…) has been done to death. Yawn.
As for the rest, I don’t see anything new or startling, merely a summation of what we’ve all seen.
So…okay. Whatever. I give you a plus one just for not being a t–l.
Sorry dude, I’m not really buying the Jack is Moses theory. But if Ben’s real last name turns out to be Philistine I will crap my pants.
I most definately think jack is moses. naomi even jokes with jack about it. i like the way you think. +1
