OK, this is my first crack at a theory, and it’s a dumb one, and I don’t know if it’s been done before but I would appreciate any feedback, good or bad.

When Ben takes Locke into the hut, he starts talking to the chair. Everything is OK until crap starts flying all over the room, and Ben makes it seem like Jacob is getting upset and that he is the one throwing things about. This could just be some parlor tricks built by Ben to look like a haunted house or something. Anyway, Locke sees Jacob for a split second and then he hears him say, “help me”. Ben notices that Locke thinks he has heard something, so he shoots him. This might be because he wants to test Locke’s sanity or something, and if he heard an imaginary voice, then he is not worthy to work with Ben or learn the Island’s secrets. Locke then sees another apparition in the form of Walt and gets up from a ditch after being shot. Maybe he was just lucky. Maybe all these ghosts or whatever are all in John’s mind. After all, he’s one of those spiritual types!

OK tell me how much this theory sucks and why please!

P.S. Also please note that I wrote this at 3 a.m. so if it sounds like gibberish you know why. :D

I heard Jacob will be in at least a couple of episodes in season 4. Now the writers did say they know how to ‘depict’ Jacob which is interesting. I’m gonna give ya a +1 anyway cause a lot of neg’s are flying around the place

Thanks. I’ll be updating and cleaning up this theory after I get some sleep! :D

Is everyone this stupid? I keep reading posts and comments talking about a 4th dimension possibility. We perceive 4 dimensions already. Anything “extra-dimensional” would start with the 5th. The dimensions are as follows…x,y,z, and time.

Atori don’t be so mean. And yes, not many know that time is considered as the 4th dimension. Also, not everyone is convinced that time and space blend, so they just see it as x, y and z, all travelling in time. People talking about the 4th dimension as something special usually mean another x/y/z-type of axis.

So Jacob’s house is simply a 3 dimensional shadow of a tesseract?

Welcome, Atari and congrats on your first theory. I agree that most of what happened in Jacob’s house was probably Ben’s doing, but it certainly seemed to throw him when he knew Jacob spoke to Locke. That, he most certainly considered a threat to his leadership and why he shot Locke. At least that’s what I think. +1 for all your good thoughts.

btw: comment @ 7:41 Fake sham

If Jacob is fake how is it that we saw him?

he says that Locke saw him as a figment of his imagination after strong suggestion from ben. which could be why people say it was terry o’quinn in a wig. +1
