A friend of mine and I were talking about Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan just the other day when I stumbled onto somthing….

Adam and Eve are the famed lost pilots Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan. I read this exerpt a day after my pal and I were having our famed down planes discussion:

CUSE: The answer to that question goes to the nature of the timeline of the island. We don’t want to say too much about it, but there are a couple Easter eggs embedded in “Not in Portland”, one of which is an anagram that actually sheds some light on the skeletons and hints at a larger mythological mystery that will start to unfold later in the season.

lindelof: There were certain things we knew from the very beginning. Independent of ever knowing when the end was going to be, we knew what it was going to be, and we wanted to start setting it up as early as season 1, or else people would think that we were making it up as we were going along. So the skeletons are the living — or, I guess, slowly decomposing — proof of that. When all is said and done, people are going to point to the skeletons and say, “That is proof that from the very beginning, they always knew that they were going to do this.”

You probably already know that in the episode ‘Not in Portland’, we see Juliet sipping some o.j. at a company named: herarat aviation. Well, if you rearrange the letters in herarat, they spell Earhart. Most Folks know about poor Amelia, but forget all about her co-pilot Fred Noonan. Methinks Adam and Eve are Milly and Fred.

Yep, this has been suggested here a few times and it’s my favorite theory for who the skeletons are. But, alas… who knows for sure?

I’ve never seen this before. I like it. And it doesn’t even require a freaking time loop, thank god.

But, what about Jacks comment that the condition of the clothes makes the skeletons 40 or 50 years old? and why does fred have those rocks?

Good to hear from you again The Really Real Wills Dad (YKTN). I knew you would come back to play! You Arent fooling anyone.

Molly, I agree with Proffie! This is one theory that seems to make some sense, if you consider that “the island” may be a hidden anomaly from the rest of civilization. +1

  5. MollyCocktail Nov 15, 2007 2:03 p.m. Comment: 5

In response to your question you_knowthename, Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan went missing in 1937, so Jack’s comment about the age of the clothes is pretty accurate.

As to the white and black stones found, well, I haven’t figured that out yet. I do know that they appear randomly in several episodes, most notably in Flashes Before Your Eyes. You can see them clearly on Desmond’s coffee table in one of his flashbacks. One is black and one is white…perhaps good and evil? Perhaps science and faith? Perhaps time and space?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Those aren’t stones on desmonds table you bonehead! talk about seeing what you want to. Wouldnt saying that totally blow your theory out of the water? Why would AE and Noonan have Desmonds stones in his pocket? You should really think before you submit. Oh yeah my apologies I do see them in several episodes, theyre all over the jungle floor.

Molly this is cool thanks for sharing. I don’t recall seeing them at Penny’s house but plenty of others have corroborated that fact.

ProfO I missed this one myself if t’were discussed before but I agree with you. That would be a good explanation!

Come play in my sandbox?” How long did it take you to come up with that classic? Thats right up there with ” I know you are but what am I”

Sorry Molly, not interested in checking out your picture but Im sure its great. I’m sure it would have put me right in my place. LOL

You know, YKTN is fake, but that doesn’t mean he/she/it is wrong.

I’ve been reading a lot here, and I’ve never seen this theory. I like it. The age of the clothes is still a question though. As is the stones.

(Oh, and “TheRealWillsDad” is fake too. Roll your cursor over the name and see that one of the Ls is an i. I thought we voted and decided we were bored with him?)

Actually If I remember correctly, I think the vote was whether or not Quarantine was a Nancy Boy. I think we all know how that one turned out.

Come play in my sandbox, Nancy Boy!”

Molly, I like this theory too. It makes perfect sense. I haven’t seen it mentioned before, but I bow to Prof, he would know better than I.

What is a Nancy boy? And what is that sandbox thing you keep writing?

  15. Quarantine Nov 15, 2007 6:57 p.m. Comment: 15

Oops, I missed it. The 5:54 stealthfighter is fake.

    For the record, so is:

    12:54 YKTN: fake

    1:38 therealwillsdad: fake

I think this is interesting and the Earhart anagram is a good observation. You know you love Lost too much when you make every word an anagram. +1 :)

Thanks for finally answering the Hererat question for me!! I knew it had to be something..

I love the Earhart connection and I did not know about Fred Noonan at all. This gives me something interesting to read up on, thank you.

  18. ProfOzone Nov 15, 2007 11:12 p.m. Comment: 18

Well, I did a search and found a few theories, but I don’t think I found them all. However, this one:

    http://www.lost-theories.com/theories/2007/apr/30/amelias-island/

…is a good one for April. If you read the comments you’ll see kat mentions “a passenger”. I could have sworn that there was another post elsewhere that mentions Fred specifically, because I remember doing some research on him to see if there was anything in his life to connect him to white and black stones. Like… was he known to have carried something like that around as a good luck charm or something. Anyway… I didn’t come up with anything, but I’m pretty sure I commented on whatever theory started me looking stuff up and I didn’t comment on the one cited above, so…

    See… I’ve just been here forever… and I’m a freak… that’s how I know… :-)

+1 if Prof can’t remember where it is then it’s pretty much original! :)

  20. tree_sneakers Nov 16, 2007 7:46 a.m. Comment: 20

How do explain their clothing? Where is their plane wreckage?

Intriguing thoughts but I can’t see any proof. If it is Amelia and Fred, what does that tell you about the location of the island?

  21. Annie79 Nov 16, 2007 8:05 a.m. Comment: 21

Prof, I’m late & running out the door, but it could be this one. Amelia Herarat or the one that is linked to it has the comment by kat about a passenger.

    Hope this helps.

  22. tharde5 Nov 16, 2007 3:21 p.m. Comment: 22

I too have read the theories on the skeletons being linked to Ms. Earhart. The idea isnt original but nonetheless it all makes perfect sense. All this Amelia Earhart talk makes me think that the island is a type of Bermuda Triangle/Unexplainable phenomenon. An area of unexplanable occurrences!

  23. Quarantine Nov 17, 2007 9:07 p.m. Comment: 23

Be aware: this site is set to automatically go offline when the term “Bermuda Triangle” is used for the one hundred millionth time. We only have about 5 to go. Use them wisely.

It has been days since I read this and commented, and I still can’t get this off my mind. Amelia Earhart. That was such a good catch. And so intriguing.

(Unfortunate for the solstice/equinox theorists, though. She disappeared on July 2.)
