Be careful with what you wish for…

Since it seems the storm in th epage is passed I repost my theory
This is my first posting so the usual apologies for rewriting something already posted go first. I have just finished rewatching the whole three seasons back to back with some theories (fate, time loops/”travel”, etc) and I think there is something about that for sure but the main them for seems to be “Be careful with what you wish for”. I will try to explain myself on how these two tie together. Also I was very interested by the comments on Sawyer by wtf, Willsdad and msawyer.
The groups is obviously composed by people who have regrets about their past. Regrets that often condition their way of seeing live and impede them from happiness, thinking that if they only could change that little thing then the gates to the live they imagine will open. Also these regrets come up in flashbacks when it is relevant to the action happening in the present time, the time in the island of hatches, Others and monsters. We the see how these actions condition their immediate decisions and surprisingly they sometimes forego their complexes and traumas, thus slowly becoming better people. In Jack’s flashforward, we see him morally destroyed and below rock bottom. A lot about parallel universes or timelines has been said on this page already so I won’t go back to the whole theory behind. But I think in that reality Jack did not challenge his father, rather backing him in the investigation for malpractice and so, slowly becoming like him, an alcoholic, but without the cold character that allows his father detachment from people and feelings. He finds himself in a reality where his regrets have not happened yet he is more miserable than ever. Not only he is faced with the misery of his alternate live but he must confront having given up his first live, where he now knows that he was “happy” and did not even appreciate it. Reading your posts about Sawyer made me think that in fact in killing Cooper, he got the regret that he had. He finally got to his lei motif. And when he does, as you rightly pointed out, he begins to vanish, to the point we see in through the looking glass. Maybe, like jack once he gets out of the island, realizes the void of his decision. His life is just the same only now there is more guilt and more bitterness will come. He realizes that the way was to accept and move on, become a member of a new society that accepts and respects him. A new family to replace the one he never had. He now has killed twice for his trying to fix his life and he is more miserable than ever. Ironically, Sawyer, who could have learned all this after is killing of the guy in Australia, also gave Jack the way out when he told him about the meeting with his father. And Jack did not take it, although I do think that from that point onwards he begins second guess himself up to the Radio Tower. MAybe kate is stuck with his father in law, or she didnt kill him but ended with a ruined home, her mother battered or dead and maybe reliving her mothers life with another man beating her. Desmond and his premonitions seem to point to the fact that “right” path seems to be acceptance of what happens and turning them into strengths of character and also to need to learn to move on and make the best of life. Not to the point of everybody having a MsRowlings around, of course. But more like in Charlies way (I think the point of the Charlie-Desmond relations is for Desmond to learn to control his “power” rather than Desmond chaperoning Charlie). Because Lost is a bit like an onion, with many plot layers, anew appearing below the one just removed. And it is clear that there are people trying to influence the events, such as Ms Rowlings, and they have to be somehow tied to all that Lost Experience world of Mitteloss, Witmore, Sun’s father and obviously Dharma. But why do they need to influence some apparently random people crashed on an island? Could it be that whatever the secret of the island is can only be controlled in very Arthurian way, with a chosen pure One being the only one that will be able to pull the sword? This combined with an amount of free will needed for the spell to be broken would explain the reason to influence the characters so that they will end up taking the right decision. It remains to be seen for whom or for what outcome that the island could be demanding.
I also think all this combines with the strong possibility that the whole story is repeating itself over and over, kind of ike with desmond and that it could continue until a given outcomee is met.
I know there is no real references to episodes but this is more of a general idea. I will try to support it with more detail and complement it with other subideas.

Good theory unlocked. I dont agree with the alternate reality theories at the moment, but I like the idea that FF Jacks condition is the result of not turning his father in and backing him instead.
I like your comparison of Lost being like an onion! Lots of good ideas +1
Unlocked, I agree with WTF! I think you did a nice job on your first theory!
I also agree that the “themes” of the characters and life lessons seem to be repeated, over and over. I sense this during the flashbacks of the characters, and what we know as the present for them. What we don’t know is, what sequential order we’re being shown them or from who’s perspective. Nice job! +1
unlocked, good work for your first theory! +1 I agree with wtf and dab.
Hope to hear more.:-)
There is a troll “working” today; he is taking legitimate theories, like yours, and flagging them as “offensive” and sending them to the dump. It has happened to me 5 times today (I keep pulling it out of the dump, only to get re-dumped).
If this happens to you, all you have to do is “edit” you theory, and “save.” and it will return to the regular rotation.
I hate these guys.
