This began with me attempting to determine how many of the survivors remain on the island and expanded to include how many others and other random individuals are on the island.
I started the count with 71 people 1 dog survivors between the middle section and tailies. I count that there are now 37 original survivors plus Aaron for total of 38 remaining.
I don’t know how many total Others there were at the begining of the series sot his just counts the total who have died.

I’ve been wondering if there has been an equal amount of dead others and losties-converted-to-others. If you feel like doing the math be sure to let me know lol.

22 Others have been killed, 17 of those directly by the survivors.
13 Survivors have been taken by the Others. (3 taken from the tailies camp the first night, 2 weeks later 9 more were taken from the tailies camp, and Cindy joined the Others during the march across the island.)
So the ratio is either 13 Survivors taken to 22 killed or 17 killed if you want to limit it to the Others who were directly killed by the Survivors.
Note that so far the only confirmed coverted to Others of the 13 that were taken are Cindy the Flight Attendent, the Children Zack and Emma, and two unnamed tailies. The status of the other 8 survivors that were taken is unknown.
Somebody (Desmond?) said that by his count, the losties had killed more of them that they had killed of the losties. I always wondered about that.
Very nice research. Interesting. And I am a little surprised to see that the Losties have done more killing. Does sort of make you wonder who the good guys are.

Bob, nice research! I did some research on how many “losties” there originally were, how many were killed and how many remain alive. I couldn’t find it, but it did coincide with the number eight! +1
